I have been at my current job for 8 months now, and on Saturday, the clusters started..1 on Saturday, 2 on sunday..So I let my Bosses know that i might get them at work..Guess what happened.

I am not allowed to come to work until i have a doctor's note saying that i have Clusters..And i got that note (they also demamded that i get on meds for it, that cost me $80!) Then i called work and said that i have a note stating that i Do indeed have clusters, and that i am ok to work..

well that wasn't good enough. So i have to stay home tomorrow, until my doctor writes up what they can do if i get one..I'll tell you what they can do..Leave me the hell alone...

I am regretting telling them..Since for some stupid reason i haven't gotten one today.

I can see why you're frustrated.   I have never heard of any company requiring this indepth....what should I say here???  uh,  intrusion.   Print this out:

Aren't you already on meds?  80.00 is cheap for the meds we have to take.  Pure 02 is the best, safest and cheapest abortive there is out there unless you consider strong coffee or the energy drinks like Red Bull.

Are you at liberty to name this company you work for? I'm just curious, as most places don't have this stringent of a work/sick policy.

This would be strangely comforting to me....I don't know why.

The company is just trying to cover its ass in case something happens and you get hurt during a hit.

Still, like the Brewster, I find a strange bit of comfort in the notion that they care enough to find out what they should or should not do.

Hey here's a kicker.  Years ago when I was getting them I was working for Doctors.  I got hit at work one day and the doctor took one look at me made a call to the neuro that worked there and within 2 hrs I was in the hospital for 8 days.  This is when I first started Dr. Silberstein.  The funny thing is even though I worked for a Doctor he didn't have a clue as to what was going on or how to help me so they called in the big guns....LOL

I too find it comforting even though they are covering their butt.

And $80 dollars.  I only wished that is what my meds would cost me.  I pay 1300.00 a month for insurance and my co pay for my meds was over 500.00 for 6 weeks.

Hang in there if you find out what works goes with it once you get in the grove it's a lot more easlier to handle the hits.  For me it was finding my fighting spirit after being in remission for almost 5 yrs that was the hardest.

I'm now back in remission but boy is my butt kicked. Still getting the shadows but hey I will take them.

On your employment application was there a question to the affect of "Do you have any disabilities that may affect your job performance?"

If there was and you checked no then they've got you.

Did they demand you be "treated" or did they demand that you be on "medication" ?

I think maybe they are taking the word cluster as other type of neurological disease, like epylepsia...

they may think you will get attacks where you are totaly out of control, remember, they have never experience one, they do not know how to deal with it...

I was lucky enough once to have a Boss who suffer from migraines, so he kind of had and idea what I was going through..he did not make to much fuss about it, he only sent me home until I got better.

Wrong.  It's in the very early days of a cycle where you should get your "stuff" together so you are ready to fight when the beast strikes in earnest.

Waiting until the cycle ramps up to get your treatments in order is like waiting until after you get shot to put on a bullet proof vest.

That's BS!
O2 at home, some sort of preventative, perhaps a taper of prednisone, and a shot or a spray of imitrex in my pocket at ALL times is my strategy.

The letter to collegues helps too.

Unless it's a great job I'd tell em to shove it...
