I'm seasonal and about to cycle on...

Ah yes, it's that time of year again...spring.  for most people it's all about the re-birth or birth of living things that died over the winter or have been gestating since the fall.  For me, it means I am about to get hit with a brutal cycle that will last from now (early-mid April) through mid-late June.  I've been pain free since the end of December (I had a rare fall cycle last year), and I've been feeling shadows for the last couple of days.  Oh joy.  I guess it's time to get a hold of my neurologist and get some fresh meds.  Embarassed

Don't delay! At least get the oxygen rig ready so when you get slammed you'll have something to fall back on. Facing these things empty handed scares the crap outta me!

Have never gone the oxygen route.  Was just diagnosed in the fall after 10 long years of suffering in the Spring and being misdiagnosed.  The last time I saw the neurologist, he gave me some imitrex and said the next time I get a full-blown cluster, he wants me to come back in to start an injectable steroid therapy.  Have any of you had a steroid therapy for this before?

This is the first year that I have ever used O2 and it made a world of differents.  I can't believe how big of a differents it made so don't delay get a script for it.  Remember 15 lpm with a full non rebreathable face mask nothing else will work.

As for steriods I'm wondering if the Cortef that I was on for adrenal made any differents this cycle.  I was able to get through these with not the heavy hitters that I would get my last cycle.  I also had blocks in my head but I don't think that did much.

Good Luck I'm just coming out of a 6 week cycle after being in remission for almost 5 yrs.

The only steroid experience I have is a prednisone taper I take at the beginning of my cycle. Lithium is my prevent but it takes a couple of weeks to get up to my therapeudic dose of 1200mg a day, and it takes a while to become effective. I go on 80 mg of prednisone a day tapering over a couple of weeks down to zero. By then hopefully the lithium has taken ahold. I use injectable trex only as a last resort.

Get oxygen! Started at the first twinge, at a high flow rate, (I use a modified demand regulator similar to a SCUBA rig) it will abort in less then 10 minutes for me. I have to take an oral cafergot when I start the 02 or the HA comes back 15 minutes or so after I shut off the oxygen. Most don't have that problem, oxygen is certainly worth a try given the almost zero side effects, cheap price and high success rate!

Gee, did anyone mention OXYGEN??  LOL ..

Sorry you appear to be ramping back up.

When you get your 'script for imitrex, keep filling it, even after you are out of cycle.  That way you will have a stock supply built up, the next time you get in cycle.  Most episodics don't do this.  They stop refilling once the cycle stops.  DON'T do that!!!

Good luck!
