Why would I need to be on O2 so much?

I have done OK today but it seems like every two to three hours I need to go back on the O2. Now I did get my period this afternoon (ok more info then you needed) I didn't know if maybe this was the cause. but I have gone through a large tank already. I haven't taken any Imitrex today but I did take a fiornal one for the shadows and the other for the cramps and severe back pain hoping this will kill two birds with one stone. Now tonight I will try to take 6 mgs of Melation and will there be a problem taking this with Klonopin .05mgs that I take to help sleep during this which isn't working too well? Doctor said taking Melation is ok to take with klonopin but I really would like to know from the cluster experts weather or not you think I should stick to one or the other? Sami Who is still looking for the bus that hit her!

Sami I think if the doctor says it is okay it must be - after all you can sue him! I find this site very useful for checking potential interactions though http://www.drugdigest.org/DD/Home Bear in mind these sites err greatly on the side of caution and I would discuss any reservations with your doctor as ultimately he knows your medical history better than anyone else bar you yourself. As regards the O2 - are you staying on it for a while after your hit is finished as I find that to have been the key for me Hope it helps Helen

Sami, Harmones "may" play a part in your headaches - the jury is still out on that one. The fiornal won't stop the pain of the CH, but take it if you need it for other pain. I take at least 12mg of Melatonin at night (and at times have taken sleeping pills with it with no bad effects). If the doc said it was ok - then don't worry about it. The O2 should help with shadows (that may be why you need so much right now). It works if you get to it quick enough. Also it should help with the pain of the cramps. How long are you staying on it. Usually 10 minutes or so should do the trick on a high flow. If it hasn't worked by then - it's probably not going to. You might try an ice pack or heating pad (whichever works for you) for the cramps. Hugs BD

Hi Guys, I'm staying on the O2 for at lease 20 minutes and once today I was on it for 25 minutes. Each time it aborts the h/a. I have been under termendous stress since Jan which is what I think have triggered these. Since Jan 2, I have had my new truck stolen (later got it back with little damage) a court date due to nightmare tenants, The flu then getting Mono, Thyroid that went way to high and started panic attacks, Trying to help out my sister and her husband who is on drugs keep them on their feet. Not for my BIL but for the kids. Finding my Girlfriends girlfriend dead with her and the list goes on. I was on DHEA also which I see is some debate about that. I have stopped this a bit but will start back at a lower dose due to having low readings. I've never had hormonal h/a's but just thought that due to all the stress, Mono, thyroid, and now TOM all going on at the same time that maybe that is why I'm getting hit so hard. I guess we will see. I'm going to try the Melatonin tonight 6 mgs and see what happens. Has there been anyone that this has caused H/A's Sami

Sami I have never heard of a single person for whom melatonin has made things worse - only people for whom (like just about every other med!) it hasn't worked. You've had a rotten year so far, thats enough to fell a strong person without adding CH into the brew too and you have my respect for not only dealing with it but not whining and retaining your sense of humour - I hope we get to meet one day! Hang in there, you're not just amongst friends here, you're with family and we are going to get you through this and out the other side Helen

I want to thank all of you. You are the ones along with my family that are dragging me through. When your in a cycle it's hard to see the other side but everyday I get up and "X" off another day all leading to a fantastic spring and a new start. I figure that by getting all this stuff out of the way in the begining of the year I should have clear sailing....LOL Somedays it's easlier to have the humor that one needs to get through the day but others, believe me I would like to curl up and make the world go away. All I can think is if I could do this when I had my two boys and not take anything then I can do it now. I guess that's because your protecting your babies. I've been reading back in 2002 to see what worked and how long it took and I'm praying that this cycle will follow suit. Thank you for your respect but the real respect goes to the men and women that don't have a cycle they live with this day in and day out. That to me are some of the strongest people that I will ever know. Sami

| No, us chronics are not any different than you are. We just deal with it every day, as you would, if you were forced to. I many times think that you episodics have it worse, because, during your out of cycle period, you are fretting and panicking as to when the next cycle will start. Us chronics KNOW we are going to get hit, many times today, tomorrow, and everyday after that. We, just as you do, DEAL with it. The biggest thing, whether episodic or chronic, DON'T let the beast control you or your life. Chuck
