This must be the end of the tunnel

After a very long 5 1/2 month cycle, I've gone almost 2 weeks without waking up with a HA. I performed the acid test last night by drinking some wine with no ill effect (the wine tasted kind of strange, probably from sitting around so long). My last cycle also lasted 5 1/2 months almost to the day with an 8 month PF period in between. If the pattern holds, I can expect a new cycle to start in early October......oh boy. My neuro put me on pred./lithium a few weeks ago and it really worked. HAs went from 2 or 3 a night with one bad one to one mild one or none at all. They finally disappeared altogther. I haven't had much success with lithium before. I sort of wonder if the cycle was coming to an end anyway and the pred./lithium combo was what it took to end it. Here's hoping that others here have similar good news to report soon. Rich

My "guess" would be that the cycle was coming to and end anyway, if as you said, it lasted just as long as the last cycle. However, being that there is an 8 Month remission, talk to the doc again to see if you could start the Lithium as soon as you expect the next cycle starting.

Congrats, I hope for a record breaking remission for you! I use lithium as a preventative when I am on cycle too. I'm a 47 year old male, weigh about 190 and use 1200 mg lithium a day. It takes about 2 weeks for the lithium to ramp up in my system so for the first 2 weeks I do a prednisone taper to back it up. Herer's hoping they never come back for you! (I know...but we can always hope! ) Guiseppi
