preparation techniques

I have seen many survival techniques that people use to get thru a cycle or hit, but i dont recall reading any preparation techniques. As happens at the beginning of any cycle, i dont know how I am going to survive to seen the other side. Somehow i just do But lately, as each cycle begins, i feel less prepared, less able to cope. I say to myself "im not ready to do this again yet, im not prepared." all my troops died in the last war with the beast, and the new recruits havent been trained yet, but surrender is not an option. do you have/make any preparation? is preparation possible??

Its pretty hard to prepare. After 30 some years though I find myself lessening my work load and generally subconsciously I have a pretty good idea I'm a gonna be in trouble. The unknown for me has allways been just how long that trouble will last. Wiil it be 4 months or 4 years of unrelenting pain. No matter what I allways am prepared for the first day or two its the third day that I realize I wasnt prepared at all. As I approach midnight and the 10th attack of the day with no sleep the prior 2 days all reality tends to dissapear for the next couple weeks as I try to regroup and get a hold of the pain. Then damage assesment sets in and through the pain free minutes I try to regain touch with reality and hope all my life controls were properly in place. If not its a hard road back. Some life preparation is possible but I dont think one can fully prepare for the levels of pain we can experience if you get a prolonged break between cycles. However my new plan is to never have another CH again.

Have a clear path to the Shower and make sure the water hasn't completely frozen. that hard water takes a little longer to use! Chronic means no time to really think about having to prepare, I just have to do it! Pappy

I bet that every clusterhead wishes that when they're Pf, that will be for good. Well, I've been episodic, then chronic, PF and episodic again. I recall the devastation when the beast came back; I had hoped for its departure. Because energy drinks, caffeine tabs and all things cold help me, I make sure that I have my arsenal ready "just in case". Right now my latest cycle is fading, but my ch time has taught me to be prepared for anything. Personally, the best preparation for me is to know that if/when hit comes, I have what it takes to get rid of it closeby. PF days, Sanna

You made it through last time, so your best prep is to remind yourself that you'll maake it through this time. I bet we all started out thinking we couldn't survive another day, another cycle, and another HA. We make it through and reminding yourself that you have and you can is a very good start. Also, fill your scripts while out of cycle to build upo a stash for yourself when in cycle. Especially most important for triptans and other stuff you cant get enough of while in cycle. Get your O2 filled (if you have it). Stock up on energy drinks, make sure your ice packs or frozen peas are ready. Whatever you fight with, have it ready. your troops didn't die in the last battle. They were hammered and they are going to be ready for the next time, this time tougher. Your troops are Rocky and the beast is Clubber. Keep your meds stocked and your spirits high. Keep this place on a bookmark at the top and use it use it use it Now, let's hope you never have to fight it again.

You've overstayed your welcome since the day we met but it doesn't seem to matter to you. No medications are your master, nothing makes you fret, it's a helpless feeling having nothing I can do

| What Fram said is absolutely on target. I'm overdue right now for a cycle. In the past week I've gotten my tanks filled, stocked up on Imitrex injections and have a couple of 4-packs of Red Bull in the pantry ready to hit the fridge with the two in waiting in there. I also try to be acutely aware of trying to be as engaged in my life as possible so that when the hit does come I don't feel as though I've been sitting in a bunker waiting for the bombs to drop. So, I enojy a glass of wine, a couple of beers now and then. Thank the good lord it didn't come today and start the next day with confidence that when it does come, I've built the spiritual reserve I need, along with the arsenal of weapons to make it through. Best of luck and hope that you may skip a whole cycle. Scott

Yeah I also agreed with Fram. I am stocking up at least 2 weeks of Red bulls with me and going to bring 2 cans out if I am outside just in case. We need to fight , no doubt about that, fighting it in a better prepared manner will bring us victory in the end. Thank God I found CH.com. And next I found Energy Drink. What's next? I found all of you who been supportive enough and providing me the answers I need.

Notes to self re prep for next cycle - Financial Check bank account and borrowing facility in case lose job again or incapable of continuing this job safely. Emotional I'm in complete control, of course, but must consider effect on family, spectators, supporter etc. Will they handle the bad ones? Pace-space Must be private in case naked again and lost. Moaning/crying/screaming not to frighten passers-by. Shower Adjust water-heater back below boiling so hot/freezing/hot/freezing doesn't scald scalp like last time. (Don't spoil recent re-groth.) Brick wall Pref tiled. Hose and detergent to remove evidence. CH.com Complain bitterly that Kip scale goes only to 10. They know nothing!!! Post-cycle Must eventually occur. Prepare list of apologies. After that? Get on with life. It's a wonderful world and, oh look, the sun just rose on a beautiful day.
