This is a random thought that popped into my head. Not trying to start a study or anything, just asking--I wonder if there are any similarities between CH sufferers in terms of A) birth order and or B) season born in. Is that even worth exploring? I am firstborn. Birthday--June Don't have any theory behind this...well except for birth season seeing as how these are the "timeclock" headaches...could it matter maybe what month we CHs are born in? Hope all are doing well. Star

Hey Grumpy Gus, Sorry you are feeling bad. But I must say you did come up with some creative suggestions! I hope you are feeling better. Pure thought of curiosity--don't know where I was leading with it. I do know that other studies have been done trying to see if there are any clusters of births in certain season(s) for some other disorders out there, and I figured since these are the "timeclock" headaches it might (and I am only saying might) make sense to ask. Anyway Kcopelin, thanks--my birthday is June 13 (Thursday). Friday the 13th--now that is interesting! If we get more there with that--well geez I don't know. Anyway just a thought.

You all, thank you for your info: Here's the angle I am looking at: is there a likelihood of cluster headache sufferers having been born close to either the solstices (times when day is at its longest and shortest) or near to the equinoxes (times when day and night are the same length)? Solstices: June 21 and December 22 Equinoxes: March 21 and September 21

Solstices we have the extreme (imbalance of light). Equinoxes are another extreme in that there is a perfect balance (perhaps too much consistency of light and dark). Humor me.

Star, you're always thinking. That's one of the things I like about you. I'm 1st born kid, & grandkid. July 31, 1949. 5:10 a.m. I don't think it has much to do with ch, but it's always fun when you're around. Charlotte

Hi Starlight , Good to see you thinking and being brave enough to put your thoughts out there for public scrutiny. Its heart warming to see you standing tall even while being ridiculed for your effort, gotta love you girl Its human nature to be afraid of new thoughts though so be prepared to get flammed No new frontier had been achieved without a fight. Looking back at human history, everytime a person thinks outside the square he will get all sorts of attacks for doing so. Galileo was almost burnt by the church for thinking that the earth orbits the sun and not the other way round. Newton was considered nuts for sitting there watching an apple falling to the ground and comming up with the laws of gravity. Thomas Edison failed 1000 times while trying to invent the light bulb... They all got laughed at, sneered at , even threaten with death for following their hearts and their minds. So my dear Starlight, soldier on and keep thinking aloud. I am with you on this journey, may turn out to be a very lonely one, but at least we are trying to DO something .. HUGS Annette

Hi starlight, Interesting questions well deserving of thought and exploration. No one knows what causes CH. You gotta just start asking the questions... There was a recent discussion on Vitamin D deficiency in pregnant women leading to higher incidence of schizophrenia in the children. (A brain disorder, hmmm, sorta like CH is a brain disorder.). Lack of sunshine in the winter months can lead to a Vit D deficiency. Children born in the SPRING would have been deficient in utero. No astrology involved, but time of birth could have been critical. Birth order is a little more ephemeral. Lots of studies showing LOTS of differences due to birth order. Nature or nurture is the big question here. But, who knows. Keep questioning, I think it's great. Regards Jon

Annette, I can't thank you enough for your words of support...wow...did it make me feel good what you wrote. Just think we have to try to corner these headaches somehow--would love to see them cured one day--would absolutely love it. I am happy for all the work you are doing--I really appreciate your time and effort and the careful thought you put into trying to get to the bottom of these headaches. Jon, I think that I had read about that study years ago but was not aware of what the study had found regarding the vitamin D intake by the mother and it being effected by sunlight she was exposed to during her pregnancy--it is a very interesting find. And yes, in fact although the 2 disorders--schizophrenia and CH are quite hugely different-- they are both, in fact, brain disorders--I know I was a little shocked when my neuro phrased it to me that way, that I had a brain disorder, but it is the truth. I think any small piece of the puzzle could help to maybe figure out how these things WORK. That is what I hope for anyway. Would love to hear any other birthdates if anyone wants to share. Love to you all, Star
