Have CH, but this wasn't typical

Hi,
I really need some input. Last night around 12:30am, I woke up with severe generalized headache, mostly back of head (KIP 7), lasted 8-10minutes. About a half hour later same deal. Then an hour later woke up with same type of pain, but KIP 10 this time, lasted 70 minutes or so. Tried normal CH regimen (Imitrex, 02), but no relief given. I have been CH pain free for about two weeks. I couldn't lay down at all, was crying hysterically, banging head, a complete wreck overall. I have a shadow feeling on my normal CH side today. My question is this, has anyone ever gone through this? Is this CH changing? Or is this another form of headache?

Thanks for input, I don't know if I could get through another night of this. PF wishes to all!!

I have had that happen...when I first started using 02.

There were times when I got the 2nd and 3rd hit...and the 3rd seemed to be worse than the first 2.

How long have you taken Imitrex?    Do you tolerate it well?   If not, then this could be rebound headaches from the Imitrex.

If you have just gone out of cycle, maybe the beast decided to punch you one more time.

Lot's of possibilities I suppose...Sorry I wasn't much help.

Thank you Jean for your reply. I have only been on Imitrex for 2 months, I have used it previously with no side effects. I am going to do more research on rebound headaches, I did just start Tarka shortly ago, which is a mix of verapamil and something else--could this cause a rebound? Hmmm..will try to research some more in mean time. Thanks Again!
