Verapamil or end of cycle relief !!!!!

Hello again everybody! Just wanted to shout I'm Pain Free !!!!! It's been about a week now and no attacks. I'm episodic, so it might just be the end of cycle. Either way, I'll take it. Sorry to hear about the others still suffering and I pray that they get some relief. It's a great feeling. Now if I could just get over my sinuses exploding, sneezing and watery eyes................. Thanks to all, Carl

Could be your cycle just broke... then again, maybe the Verapamil broke it. I was diagnosed with high BP last year and put on Toprol XL. Switched to Verapamil and started upping the dosage and went into remission from being chronic in Feb. As soon as cycle started in July cranked the Verapamil up more, and didn't get a massive attack week until a week ago today. Hoping it breaks here soon. Peace, and good to hear your cycle broke. Hey thanks ya'll. Carl_D, I've read some of your posts where you were getting hit pretty hard. I am so sorry about you and the other chronic sufferers here. Weren't you the one who warned me about verapamil maybe dropping bp too low? Be careful with it. And I should be the one to sign the 'other' Carl as you have been here longer than me. Guiseppi, you are exactly right, I'll take relief anyway I can get it. My verapamil and imitrex still goes with me when I leave the house. Wouldn't leave home without it, not yet anyway. Still got some refills left and am seriously considering filling them now to have in my war chest for the next battle. Thanks again ya'll Truly the 'other' Carl

I believe my cycle may be ending/ended as well. Either that or the Verapamil is doing a fantasic job. I had been taking a triptan before bed these last few weeks so I could sleep. Last night I did not, and no hits! Over the weekend I also had several beers after a paintball game, and a few Jim Beam + Diet Pepsis, no hits. Shadows are minimal during the day. I'm hoping the demon has gone dormant for another 3 years. I'm giving a few more days to call it for sure, but I'm pretty sure that if I can pass the alcohol litmus test, I'm golden.

| I'm going to do the same thing. I have an Rx for 5 more months of Zomig, at 18 per month. I'm filling every one of them and putting them in a safe place. Having 90 on hand for next time would be absolutely priceless, and I'll have a nice stockpile while the docs argue with the insurance company. Plus I can only assume by next time my co-pays will have gone up, like they always do, so it's cheaper to get them now. The Verapamil I'm not going to refill, that's cheap and easy and the doc can call it in without hassles.

Hey BigCoffinHunter, Glad to hear there is some more relief out there. I'm pretty sure my cycle is over also. Stopped the verapamil 2-3 days ago and no hits. See ya'll on the boards! Carl

I have my followup appointment with the neuro Thursday. I'm sure he'll be glad to hear they're over (did a red wine and Beam test last night, figured if that doesn't kick one off I'm good). Last I talked to him he wanted me to stay on the Verapamil a good month or two after they ended to be sure.
