Confusion? Loss of balance?

Does any one get confusion, loss of balance, and/or disorientation after a CH for a period of time. I have had this, and my doctor says it is rare but occurs. It frightens me sometimes (since I work for oncologists) that it might be a glioblastoma or other brain tumor. Doc says not to worry. Any thoughts?

Alot of us have MRI's... That kinda rules out some of the bad stuff. I can be real off balance and to an extent confused..in the midst of a CH. But afterwards...that goes away. What meds do you take? It's possible it could be a result of your meds. I'd definitely request the MRI....it would set your mind at ease. PF vibes, Jean

MRI is needed here I think. My DH occasionally gets that but only after a really bad KIP 10 that has gone for a long time or after he took some strong pain killers such as morphine. They tend to go away after 10 mins or so. CH dont normally give you these symptoms after the attacks have gone. Could be medication side effects or panic feelings from the pain, its called "pain syndrome" and it can be associated with any severe type of pain apparently. Too much oxygen for too long especially if you hyperventilate can cause it too. Annette

It can be the meds (read the side effects). I've been on severa that had vertigo as a side effect and it caused some bad vertigo in me. Also there's inner ear problems. Check that out. A MRI is a good idea to rule out other things. Hugs BD

I posted one medical report, quite some time ago, confirming your experience. Believe your doc is advising you appropriately.

I get pretty dizzy sometimes when I'm getting hit hard and walking around. Not so much afterwards though.

Occasionally, although I usually experience the lack of equilibrium during more so than after. Occasionally I feel somewhat muddled in my thinking for a while following a bad one. (No one esle can tell the difference though. )

Neither here, before, during or after. Lucky? I don't think so, not with this crap. Some of the meds do it though. Hang in there. Jon

I dont really have confusion, but loss of equilibrium for sure. I always have been somewhat off balance, seems to have gotten worse since I got CH.

I also get confused and off balance. While having a CH I tend to stagger around. A while back I was in a unfamiliar house staggering around and fell down a flight of steps. Big Guy

I'm sorry. I forgot the question. OMG where am I? Oh, now I remember. Yes, I get confused, and dizzy. Charlotte ps if I already answered, like this, I forgot. Seriously, though, for me it happens during the intense part of the hit. Even so, I can still run up and down stairs and walk very fast. And, if I'm careful, carry on a conversation with people. If they can keep up with me.

The first time I can recall the confusion was '95 while working a music fest called "Cornerstone". I got hit at our music booth and had to go down by the lake to get some privacy to ride it out (in July heat, I wouldn't dare sit in the van with no a/c. ) Got confused during the attack and coming out of it, forgot where I was. Since going chronic though, I get ALOT of confusion and akwardness during and coming out of hits and attacks. I've also become much more of a klutz the past few years ago and can be in mid sentence, and forget what I am talking about. I often call that as 'a derailment of train of thought.' In any case, you definitely need to get an MRI to rule out any other possible factors. If it comes back good... it is typical. Peace, Carl
