Just an idea that might make things a bit easier in ERs or with other professionals: Now that I take a handful of pills every day, many of them un-pronounable for me, I made a drug card for my wallet. I used a business card and typed out a list of drugs, doses and how I use them. I cut out the printing to fit over the card and use clear strapping tape to paste it over the card. The tape makes the card very tough too. Just maybe ER types will at least listen to you. A card explaining that you have CH, what it is, and how it works, isn't a bad idea either. Charlie

| Not to mention that if you ever have to be brought to the hospital while passed out for some reason, this way they would know what meds you are on so they dont accidently give you something that will kill you. Great idea, Charlie!!!!

It is up to YOU to educate yourself and then help your doctor plan your treatment. If you just sit down in front of your doctor and say "make me better" you are setting yourself up for a great deal of pain.

And dont throw away the old cards, even put a date on them, so one glance at it will tell you how long you have been on certain medication and what and when is the change. Professor Spira, who is one of the top CH specialists in Sydney (Australia ) also recommends that you keep a headache diary, especially for the newly diagnosed, as to how many attacks per day, what time they come, how long they last for and what works or doesnt work to abort them so that you and your doctor will have a much clearer picture of how the cycle is going. Painfree wishes to all. Annette

Great idea! It might be good to have your drugs typed on the back of your doc's business cards so that, if stopped by our ever vigilent minimum wage security personnel at the airport, they can call him or her to verify the drugs; it can also be a potential life saver should something happen to you while travelling-your doc can be contacted and perhaps give some critical medical advice. I have relatives near Jamestown (Cassadaigua) and would hate to lose you, being almost related (no, I am not implying that people from that area marry their sisters!). Charlie, you write some of the most sensible posts!
