Do any of you feel a residual pain after the CH is gone. For instance, when I've had a really bad CH, for the rest of the day I feel as is I've been kicked in the head. Anyone else?

Sort of like you've been beaten to a pulp, from the inside. yep. Not right now, though.

Yes, some days worse then others. The whole side of my head is so sore, don't like anything to touch it.

Oh yes. Particularly after a bad or extended one. big_guy compared to same sensation to a cheap wine hangover. I think that's pretty accurate. Best, George

Oh, yes! We have run this question around before and there was a broad reporting of residual pain/irritation. For a time, my pain was focused on my L-temple. After an attack, even a wisp of moving air on the hair over the area would trigger pain. Quite amazing!

Thanks everyone! I finally went to go see a neurologist for the first time in 15 years. I went to this Headache Treatment Center. The doctor was telling me that after a cluster headache I should be totally pain free until the next headache. As much as tried to explain, he just didn't agree. I started to doubt myselft. Also, Has anyone ever been prescribed anti-inflamatories? I'm really questioning whether this is the right doctor for me.

If it was Indocin or Indomethamin, that is used as a test to confirm ha similar to chronic paroxysmal hemicrania or hemicrania continua. If it works, that indicates something ike this is involved and helps with a med plan. Did he give you good instructions? Is it 50 mg 3 times a day or 75 mg time release twice a day, or what? I don't know about other nsaids Indocin didn't help me in 2000. The neuro prescribed 25 mg & that dosage was too low. It is helping now, at 75 mg twice a day. Not pf, but much improved. Also, I don't think neuros know everything, but like Indocin, they can be helpful tools. You can discuss what they say with your regular doc, and make a more expanded plan. It was the doc that prescribed the indocin for me, not the neuro, but it was based on what I understood the neuro to be saying.

I did not used to get lingering pain between HAs but last cycle that started to happen to me very dramatically--mostly it was what my doc calls a "hangover" from the headache--a sensation of pretty strong pain behind my left eye exacerbated by light. So I just worse sunglasses everywhere. This cycle was way better regarding lingering pain but after/during my night from hell there was both the pulling pain sensation behind my eye and a feeling like a balloon was painfully still pushing inside of my head on left side--this comes when there are extended attacks. Some this happens to. Some it doesn't. Docs can't generalize. Cause I think even though some docs have had cluster patients have they been able to track the patient's symptoms for many years or throughout a lifetime? No--most haven't had that opportunity. Take care, Star

My DH always has some residual pain either in a form of pressure or burning sensation, occasionally with a sensation like something is still tickling behind his eye for a couple of hours, sometimes longer, after a bad attack. He has tried various NSAID, didnt do anything for him. Annette

I always get "hangover' headaches after the cluster pain subisdes. I can usually deal with them with some ibuprofin or something. I consider them a minor annoyance, and almost refreshing after a cluster hit. The hangovers are painful, but I can actually function with them.

I get the "hang over" feeling too and I have also had alot of pain in my neck . Im not sure if the neck pain isnt from the way I rock.twitch & bang around during a bad hit or if its just leftover from the HA .

i get the hangover and neck pain too - i think the neck pain is the way i "stretch my neck" when im being hit. it seems to distract from the pain a little. i sometimes think i may be damaging my neck stretching it so much !! for an hour or so after a hit i tend to mumble and feel really groggy too !!

Hi Rosie, Shadows, shadows, shadows. And my hair hurts! (even tho I don't have much more than DJ. ) Compared to the hit it is blessed relief and only cause for concern that another hit may be on the way. BTW, during cycles my appetite is nonexistant EXCEPT after a hit. Then insatiable. Reminds me of younger days after herbals. Regards Jon
