O.K. here is my plan of action. Call doctor today and ask to prescripe prevantative Verapamil for days

start taking preventative Melatonin at night

continue to use Maxalt to abort the attacks when they come on.

after that if all else fails, just pray my cycle will one day come to an end.

um...oxygen, too?  I'm sorry, I haven't been keeping up.  Are you using oxygen as well?  If not, why not?

It's probably the safest abortive out there.

Talked to his nurse and she called in prescription of 30 Maxalt. My insurance will pick up 18 pills for $30 with only 1 refill the entire year.

Now he also said I can take melatonin and I did not ask about verapamil.

I am two weeks into cycle and if it is not gone in two weeks and if I go through all 18 Maxalt I will call about Verapamil.

I talked to nurse today and requested Verapamil. Can I take Verapamil as a preventative and Maxalt as an abortive.

Basically can I take both at same time without major consequences?

Yes.

How about the oxygen? It is the number one, mainstream, no side-effect abortive used by most around here. It's cheap, natural, and probably the most effective. Talk to the doc about getting a prescription for 10-12 liters per minute through a non-rebreather mask (or a Clustermasx) as needed (that way you get to call the shots as to how much you need). I think most insurance companies will gladly pay for it - over time it's cheaper than most any other abortive.

If your doc won't write you a script, get a new doc and get some welder's oxygen in the meantime. There are several around here who can help you modify the delivery of welder's oxygen so it gets to you at the proper rate.

Get busy.

How many times do you have to be told about O2?

I guess you'll be waiting for that first rebound headache from Maxalt then.
