I forgot why they call it dopymax

I took a 100mg topomax tab this morning on an empty stomach while brushing my teeth (figured I'd eat breakfast in a few minutes). It went straight to my head and hit me like a ton of bricks. Went to work....bad idea. I walked right by my office. Found my office. Had great difficulty trying to operate my computer......gave up on that. Somebody started talking to me and I only picked up on part of what they said. I'm having a hell of a time typing this. No wonder they call it dopymax.

Take the dose at night before bed and you probably won't have the side effects. I took it for several years without any of that but I took it BEFORE bed.

I took that for nearly a year, at bed time, and my brain was still fried, but everyone responds to meds differently.
The kids still joke about my antics from those days, leaving keys in the ignition in parking lots, turning down the wrong streets. Not remembering things. My manager from my other job was concerned about me as I was not performing well at all and couldn't concentrate.
Dopymax to max for me.

I started out on 75mg and uped it in a week to 100mg. I've been up as high as 400 (wouldn't recommend that one), but usually was able to level off at 100.

I've gone to taking 100mg at bedtime with mixed results. Have been waking up with mild HAs around 12 that go away on their own and wake up not too dopey. Last night, however, woke up about 10:30 with a pretty bad one. Will take 50mg at lunch and 100 at bedtime and see what happens..also on pred taper. As I recall, it takes a week or more to get used to topomax where I don't feel like a zombi. It's really hard to tell if taking these meds really does any good....Cluster headaches just seem to have to run their course. I have bad nights and not so bad nights and try to decide if the meds have anything to do with it and I can't tell.
