Does Red Bull Prevent Attacks?

I went out to white hen last night and bought a red bull, I was curious as if it PREVENTS clusters from coming on...

for example if I were to drink it tonight before sleep could it prevent me from having my 5th straight nighttime cluster?

As it is an "energy" drink you may find that the concept of "before sleep" might be a moving target with the ingesting of the Red Bull. Packs a pretty good caffeine hit.

So maybe since I have been getting them at 8:00am too, maybe I should try a red bull as soon as I wake up in the morning and see what happens.

I will try this Saturday morning, really have nothing to lose./

I haven't tried it as a preventative, just an abortive - when I get that "Oh shit" feeling.  I have been able to successfully sleep (but at 6:00 or 8:00 pm) after a red bull, but I don't drink them after 8:00 p.m.  (This is as an abortive, while using neurontin, kudzu, Indocin,  regularly, and sometimes maxalt melt - not as the only line of defense).

Good luck, Irish.

simply elevating one's standing caffeine levels, while possibly occasionally effective, may result in situations similar to when other clusterheads try to dose up with Excedrin as a preventative, raise caffeine levels really high and then have to deal with rebounds of different types.

you can try it but take note that most of the feedback you'll get says that Red Bull is occasionally effective as an abortive. you might just mess with the effectiveness that it could offer you as an abortive if you choose to ingest Red Bull as a preventative.

cluster headaches, with its combination of ability to have patterns and morph into new patterns, should be respected and the cluster logic always applies.

ps sorry about that maturity level, but it does morph and what works one time does not work the next, and what did not work may work so try it again.

My philosophy is less is better, but I've never taken so much medicine in my life as I am now.  But...it seems to be helping, and i will keep taking meds.

I'm guilty of the excedrine cure, but only for shadows. When full blown, drugs are my friend. Caffene and I don't get along after 12:pm. Other than that, from 6am to 11:45 am, I'm a coffeeholic sprinkled with tinges of nicotine. (Allright, a lot of nicotine!)  Out of here for the weekend PFNAD to all. Dick

Red Bull works as an abortative for me usually. If the shadow persists I hit the O2.

When all else fails I hit the cafergot (only after I hit an 8 or higher).

KNow what you mean Charlotte about taking too many meds. I'm "detoxing" right now and so far so good. The Red Bull and O2 are working well for now.

Tried this morning. Had a red bull for breakfast and cluster showed up right on schedule at 9:30am. No effect.
