I had a bad one last night and was in front of a fan and that seemed to make it worse. Cool air blowing on me during an attack always seems to intensify pain.

Many of us, not all by any means, find that cold air, ice, snow, helps. Personally, I go for ice packs, ice cubes, air conditioning at it's max, and standing directly under a ceiling fan at it's max, helps me. I cannot tolerate heat during a hit. If cool/cold air seems to intensify, try heat - stand in a hot shower, heating pads, warm drinks (with lots of caffeine might help), start running to heat your body. Try anything. It's not going to hurt, and it might help. We are all different in what help and does not. It's kind of trial and error. Wishing you luck and PF Sandy

Maybe try to have the fan blowing at the body instead of the face. During an attack the trigeminal nerve is very sensitive and may react to cold air brushing pass the cheeks? Annette

Sorry you had a bad night, Irish. You don't want to keep doing something that makes you feel worse. Charlotte

Cold air has never done squat for me re CH PAIN. However, since I sweat (especially shoulders up during a hit), it just feels good. Jon

It’s a strange beast this CH; when I first found this site I read where people could get relief by being under the hottest shower they could stand or using heat bags on the neck, I tried the shower & got hit worse for the attempt. I’ve since found that ice packs on my neck around the ganglion lump area certainly helps in reducing the intensity & the duration of the hit. Just another one for what helps some may not work for someone else. Kind Regards Barry
