I am about four weeks into my cycle and thought the meds were working pretty well. Had only had two bad CH this week and the Imitrex kicked them both in about 6 minutes. My clusters have pretty much allways been at night, but since my last cycle was almost 20 years ago I'me not real clear on some of the finer details but this cycle has been 2:30 am 4:30 am and around 5:30-6:00 if I was stupid enough to go back to sleep after the 4:30 hit. Today at 5:00 Pm I was finishing up at work when I felt the pain start. Slammed a red bull, got an ice pack and told my wife (we work at the same place) it's time to go. By the time we got home It was a kip 7. Hit the Imitrex but this time it has not fully done the trick. As I type this I still have a kip 2-3. Crap. Well I go back to the Dr tomorrow. I will se what he says. Big Guy

Even my best meds, (with the exception of the devil prednisone), let me down sometimes. There are times when nothing stops the beast and you simply ride it. Keep the imitrex closer at hand. If I get much past a 6 the imitrex will reduce the pain but won't stop it. Hang in there, we've all been there done that, it just sucks. Guiseppi

Thanks so much for the support. It really helps to have understanding people so close. I had the Imitrex with me, I don't know why I waited so long. Pain free wishes Big Guy

BG Have you got some O2 handy? With the Red Bull, it seems to work (most of the time) for me. Hugs BD

Hey Big Guy, O2 + imitrex right away might do it. I've found that if I let the CH progress too far, I'm gonna get hammered. I don't use imitrex jabs-so its rock star (tasted better than red bul (IMHO ) O2. If that doesn't work in 20 minutes I take one of my 6 (per month) zomig tabs. That takes awhile to work-but gives quite a few hours of relief. Can't do the nasal sprays cause they make me feel really crappy for hours. Bottom line-don't wait to counter attack. PFDAN to ya, kathy

Big Guy, If you have had a 20 year break, you are just a little rusty with the dance steps, believe me they will come back to you. You are blessed to have someone to ride the waves with you.

I guess I am a little rusty about the dance. The pain however is something you never forget. My first hit in 19 years felt like it had only been a day since my last hit. The meds now days are much improved, at least in my case, so while I am suffering it is not nearly as bad as in the past. It is also a great help and comfort to ba able to visit the people here and know that someone understands what you are going through. best wishes for PF days and nights Big Guy

I talked to him about O2. He has been very open about my treatment. When he saw the research I had done he pretty much allowing me to call the shots. Except about O2. He seems very uncomfortable talking about it. Since I am doing about as well as can be expected with my current meds I did not push the issue. I am going to a neoro this friday and I will be discussing all options with him. At least that is my plan. We will see how open he is to discussion Big Guy

Maybe the new doc will consider it. Having 02 has made it possible for me to be med free. Seems like the more I took for CH, the worse it got. Oops...some may consider 02 a med....so I'll rephrase and say other than 02...I take nothing else for CH. Lots of luck to 'ya at the doc on Friday. Jean

I'm with basslady, really push for the 02. As far as meds go, (yeah they call it medication cuz you need a script for it!) it has the least side affects and one of the best track records for me. Good luck! Guiseppi
