Aged and fermented foods such as cheese, sauerkraut, salami, and sourdough bread are high in histamines. Although both red and white wines contain histamines, reds generally have higher content, especially low-acid reds made from grapes grown in warmer areas. Chocolate, vanilla, beans, nuts, bananas, cultured products like cheese and yogurt and fermented products, especially dark beer, soy sauce and red wine are all significant sources of tyramines. Taking antihistamine drugs, either before or after consuming, won't prevent or cure headaches.

I was told to stay away from wild women, salt, icecream, beer, weed, crack, and most of all, cherry pepsi. Too much of anything is bad, even water. Moderation is the key.

Jaz, Migraine docs have been trying to tell us that foods cause CH and to stay away from certain ones for years. I think we did a survey on this years ago (we used to do a lot of surveys) and "most" of us are not affected by food triggers. Beer, red wine and MSG seem to be the ones that affect most, if they are affected at all. Beer used to be a BIG trigger for me, but over the years I think I grew out of it because now I can drink a beer without getting a headache. But I went about 12 years without even trying one (and I LOVE beer). Tried one last year and NOTHING, so now I drink an occasional beer. MSG triggered me ONE time and then not again. Go figure..... When I first started getting these things all I could think about is triggers. I would stay away from a lot of things especially beer. But then I started thinking, I have clusterheadaches not migraines. In a cycle it didn't matter what I ate or drank, I know I'm going to get hit 3-4 times a day no matter what. I still stay away from beer because I think beer will increase the intensity of the pain not the headaches itself at least for me. Does this make sense to anyone?? Jeff

I was just looking up some stuff when I came across this. For me what was interesting was not so much what can trigger a CH hit but what they mention as "tyramines" which constrict blood vessels in the brain, so the apparent non-trigger. For the chocolate lovers our there

Does vinegar act as a trigger in anyone? I've noticed wine has made me feel worse for up to 3 days afterwards, but hard alcohol is fine. Now thanks to Flash's statement on vinegar I'm wondering if the wine vinegar in my salad dressing made me worse. It never occured to me before.

| It does to me. I am chronic and I eat whatever I want and it doesn't make my headaches worse or better. The only thing that I pretty much gave up was alchohol, about 8 years ago. I will have a drink once in awhile, but I rarely finish it; I drink about 1 bottle of wine a year and about 2-3 beers a year..I had a wonderful wine collection and wound up giving the stuff away as presents

cant eat any of it things i love the most and not because of my ch but because of migrane man life is soo boring when you cant gorge yourself on chocolate......... red wine, strawberries, apples, oranges, chocolate, AND SEX LOL cant do none of em they all bring on a headache of one sort or another......
