I would say yes, sometimes it is the only thing that gets me through. And thank you, people here who have prayed for me. Charlotte

I've got to believe it's part of His plan. To make you stronger or something. Sounds pretty fucked up to me. But I quit questioning His reaons or seemingly lack of concern for CH a longtime ago. Maybe it's His way of bringing us together.

I heard that God's time is different than ours. All of this time, like years, is one second in time for him. It sucks to have this pain!!

I often wondered why I was molested and raped as a child. My shrink always told me "that which doesn't kill us makes us stronger". I always thought it was a load hooey. Stronger for what I always asked myself. Now, I understand. God was preparing me for these damn things? That's just a sick joke, imho!

Can't say it really works or he, or she, or it, if any of "Them" exist, would have taken me during the many times I prayed to die. And that is probably an understatment. Never quite had the "guts" to do it myself, but I certainly prayed for it to happen.

I am not on the board posting much anymore but I did want to respond to this one. It was always told to me that clusters and other diseases come to those that are strong. I am not sure if that is true or not but I think that we all can say that we have become stronger for it, maybe even our family has. Kind of goes with that 'what doesnt kill us only makes us stronger.' I know that I have learned that there is strength within me that I never knew was there, that is why I can keep my head up out of the water while being chronic for four years. I bet that if we all look, we can see a change within ourselves for the better - maybe we have become more compassionate for others, developed a better understanding of pain or have found a new determination to go on within ourselves. There is also a quote that I have lived by that says that '"If you learn from your suffering and really come to understand the lesson you were taught you might be able to help someone else who is now in the phase. Maybe that is what its all about after all..' So maybe that is part of why we suffer. No one can know though. So I guess that prayer can work if you believe it, maybe it is part of a mind set. I beg Him to help everytime I get hit hard but still the pain is there, does he hear me? I dont know, I hope so but I am not sure. I have lost faith at times, right now being one of them but still I beg for help. Maybe one day I will understand the reason why and I will be able to see that greater picture. But for now, I fight. Jill

The prayers of a righteous man (or woman) availeth much....God always hears, He always answers according to His will-not ours. Have I prayed for these headaches to stop-you bet. Have I had every single believer in Jesus Christ that I know pray for me-you bet. Have the headaches stopped-no. Am I more compassionate now than before-yes. Has the pain brought me closer to God-yes. Because I am not able to work outside the home full time, am I here for my son-yep. Would I still be working like a madwoman building up riches here at the expense of my family-yep. Do I still pray every night that these headaches will stop-yep. I'll keep on praying that, just as I pray for every single one of you. If you don't believe-well, it can't hurt, right? Faith and spirituality do have a role in healing-not slap you on the forward and yell "be healed"-but in creating a sense of peace and calm that allows for healing-if its possible. If not-at least your time here isn't a total wash. IMHO and I can't believe I answered this one. PFDAN y'all kathy

I don't believe what I'm reading here. How could anyone think that their god has got anything to do with them suffering years of torture and also think that praying would help because perhaps he/she/it will change his/her/its mind and end the torture? I would have thought that CH would be the final proof that people would need to shake off their religious beliefs. Victor Meldrew

I'm not about to start knocking anyone's visible OR invisible means of support. If praying gives you strength, if faith keeps you going then thats all I want to know. I think this is a distinctly personal question to ask anyone and has no place here where all it is going to do is start a flame war where people are looking for help.
