19 mos pf..now the BEAST IS BACK!!

I thought I had found the ultimate natural tonic that served me well for 19 mos.  I have no insurance and can't take meds, so I have to fight the beast bare knuckled or find something natural.  A week ago I started having HA's but wasn't sure it was CH.  It was different.  I didn't have the teary eye or the stuffy nose, and the pain was centered more on the back of the neck instead of the eye, although it still affected the temple, eye, ear, and neck.  Also, instead of only hitting at night, it was now hitting in the day as well...for most of the day...ramping up to a kip 7 or 8, and dropping back to a kip 3.  The kip 3 stage can last for 5 or 6 hours.  The other change was for the first time in 29 years, it is on the right side instead of the left.  It has now settled in to act more like the old ch I know and love.  The eye tears, the nose is stuffy.  It still hits day and night, and it's still on the right side, but I recognize it for what it is.  The pain in the neck may just be a reaction to the tension of having it all come back after 19 mos.  I knew weird things were going to happen when I found out Jonny cut his hair!  I'm just glad I didn't have that $5800.00 surgery on the left side.  I'd have to have it again on the right, and The Old Man doesn't need another reason to drool.  I'll get through it...I always do.

Thanx Sean.  I tried the O2 but it didn't do it for me.  Haven't used the clustermasx though.  It's hard with no insurance.

Hi E-DOUBLE,

I was /am using liquid Ginger Root and liquid Turmeric Root, 1/4 of a dropper of each twice a day in my coffee.  I got it at the Natural Food store for about $9.00 a bottle.  A bottle would last me about 2 months.  Both of these have anti-inflamatory and anelgesic qualities, with no adverse side effects in long-term use.  I started taking it for my asthma which kept turning into bronchitis.  It works great for that.  I've not had bronchitis since I started using it.  I also noticed that I no longer had CH cycles...an added bonus...until now.

Damn Sean...and you don't even know me.  I appreciate the offer.  For now I'm going to try to beat it back myself.  I am overwhelmed by your offer and may take you up on it if I can't lick it on my own.  Thank you VERY MUCH for the offer.  It made my day.

Have you tried melatonin, 9-12 mg at night along with magnesium and calcium supplements?  They seem to decrease the number of hits I get at night in cycle.  Only anecdotal, I know, but I wouldn't do without them.

Hang tough.  Sounds like you're an old-timer with this thing too, especially when you say that you know that you'll get through it, because you always do.

"Well, here we go again".  --I know the feeling.

But hey--nineteen months is good.  Sounds as if whatever the apparent natural process that some of us long-timers go through that makes our cycles get farther and farther apart is working for you.  I'm up to three years now--long ago, I got them six months apart.  I don't believe for a minute that I'm done with them.

Tell you what, though...If it ever switched sides, it would scare the hell out of me.  I've had it on one side for so long, I don't know if I'd know what to do with it on the other.  What I know, I can cope with.  Something new like that is creepy.

I'm figuring that you're probably the gent that I've been e-mailing back and forth to in the past day.  Write back anytime.

Best wishes and best regards,

George

Ah! The foreigners put on such airs
Wearing the tangerine suits
And their harlequin eyes.
The pain they inspire
Draws in harmonica melodies
And the feathers of birds
Which flame up at their touch.
It all comes to light in the sheer
Debonair.

Hey George,

I tried the melatonin and it worked for 1 cycle.  Haven't tried it for years, tho.  Guess I'll give it another shot...and yeah...swapping sides like that after 29 years is a little scary.  Kinda throws your whole approach out of whack.

Hey youngster!  Never mind this "old man" stuff!  I'm so sorry to hear you're getting hit again but please don't turn down Sean's offer of help.  Who knows, maybe this time it would be the magic bullet that would really help.

Sending you PF wishes

Distance in miles between each of us doesn't matter.

The battle takes place whether we're alone or in a crowd.   Some have months ....or years of pf time...some never get a rest.    Whether time is the enemy...or our friend, we're plagued with this awful pain.

Seems strange that we all feel so close.   The only thing alot of us have in common is the pain.  We come here  from all parts of the World...we share our lives, and our experience of the pain.   When we are lucky enough to be pf, we try to  ease the burden of pain from our brothers or sisters.

The first time I came here I was amazed at the comraderie, the caring, the sharing and the obvious love that's a product of this affliction.

The only place better than being here...is being somewhere in the physical presence of another who suffers....  a place that brings so much peace to our hearts and our daily lives.

Whether we gather in a crowd, or with only one, it's absolutely the most satisfying feeling in the World.

OM

Get to the natural foods store and get some melatonin. 6-12mg at night (after it gets in your system) will probably help you get thru the night hits (it's wonderful for me)

Then go to the grocery store and invest in some Red Bull. Down a can of that stuff as soon as you can when you feel a hit coming on.

sorry you're back in cycle. But hang in there....

Hugs BD

How about double-brewing coffee.  Cheaper than redbull, tastes better too with cream and suger!
