I cannot speak for anyone else, but I know that when I had my first cluster headache I thought for sure I was a gonner, as I could not handle that kind of acute pain for the long haul. I went all over the internet feverishly trying to find a reason for the sudden onset. My doctors were alarmed and took every type of image available of my head, they sucked blood, ran test after neurological test to no avail. Out of desperation I started to backtrack to the first one to see if I and the doctors had overlooked anything. I had injured my back a couple of days before the first attack, and was taking 400MG Ibuprohin for it. The doctors had all told me "no way, if anything it should be helping not triggering a cluster headache" Regardless, I was desperate and stopped anyway. That was six years ago, and they have never returned. Doctors are a tad sceptical when I tell them this. So, if you are taking high doses of Ibuprophin, stop immediately (unless it's life thretening to do so!) as it may work for you. I fell for all of you and wish you the best!

Well, let's see: I had my first CH before ibuprofin was invented. I've never taken ibuprofin in my life. Therefore, I don't think it'll help me to quit using ibuprofin. Glad that it worked for you, though. Truly wishing you many pain-free days and nights... George

Ibuprofin sure didn't do anything to my hits... That was the first thing I tried back in 2001. I do hope that you stay PF, though. Best wishes & PFdays, Sanna

Ok, I understand fully that living with the horror of cluster headaches makes a lot of people cranky, and cynical, I will try to clarify my post..sorry, my fault for the ambiguity. In my obviously misguided attempt to help someone, I got may a*ss collectively cyber- stomped by the message board minions. For clarity...I do not, nor intended to suggest that 400mg three times a day causes cluster headaches in anyone including myself. I was merely sharing my experience in the slim chance that there may be one other person who might have an similar experience. Hey, all I know is I stopped taking the prescription and the CH stopped immediately. I did not intend for every person who did not have a similar experience, to slag me because they did not. I'm wondering if some of you actually read the whole post? And kissmyglass did not even read the post. Like I said, I apologize for the misleading Subject header..should have read "Ibuprophin and CH"..perhaps then people would have read the whole thing...and maybe, just maybe passed the info on to anyone they know that fits a similar profile.

Death2 you might want to use the modify button on your post this will allow you to change the name of the post. I to have made the error of using a bad name for a post and have also been cyber spanked for doing so. Please don’t take to much offence at those who have done the stomping, there will be times that the same people may be the most helpful to you. We are all here to help and yes some of us get a bit cranky at times but take it with a grain of salt and press on and remember we are here to help each other, I myself have never taken it personal. PF wishes coming your way. Matt
