Went 3 days No CH. Thought my cycle was done. Went to a party last night and didnt even finish one beer and was hit hard. Had to leave early, everyone was wondering what was up. This always happens to me. I never learn my lession. Just curious to know if this has ever happen to someone else.

Every freakin' time when I'm in cycle. That's why I go totally off it for six weeks or so. Kind of an inevitable trigger.... Best, George

I don't think alccohol used to trigger me when I was younger (at least not whatever I was drinking back then). However, six years ago I made the mistake of starting to drink a cup of wine at the Tweeter Center right before a Stevie Nicks concert (while I was in cycle)--wow, that day I found out wine triggers me--BOY was that interesting. Since then I have not experimented any further. But my guess is that certain alcohol triggers and certain does not. Like in college I don't remeember being triggered but I wasn't drinking wine back then

They say that's the true test to determine if a cycle has ended. If you can drink a beer and not get hit, cycle is over...if not....then you better hold on. Has happened to numerous folks here. Jean

My rule of thumb is 14 days PF before tempting the devil with any known triggers.

Same here, however, a little trick I learned. When my cycle has ended and I enter what I call the "shadow period," of 4-8 weeks if I get hit after havng a brew and I am able to knock it down with O2, Relpax, or whatever, I may then continue drinking for that day without further incident. Go figure! ..but it works.

| i wish i had cycles. that way at least i could have a beer sometimes. as it is now, i just have to accept that if i want to go and party with my friends then i have to buy a can of beer from the shop, go home and drink it, deal with the devil for an hour or so, then im good to go for the rest of the night. ahh the joy of being chronic

I used to be a regular beer drinker, but I have not touched it or any other form of alcohol, for 27 years now. This happens to be how long I have had CH, I can't really remember for sure, but I think I got my first hit after a drinking session. I have decided to avoid it as I manage to get hit enough without helping it-----My how I still miss my pint Cheers Roy

Beer is a killer for me also. Does anyone find it can trigger a cycle rather than trigger a headache in a cycle? I think this could be one of my problems I think im ok, sometimes i'll have a beer & nothing & sometimes have a beer & Wham! here we go again! From this week onwards, thats it I aint drinking at all ever even if I have a couple of weeks PF, I aint touching the stuff.

Back in the days of when I got the first round with the beast. Then I couldn't drink beer. I would get hit 30-60 minutes after I started to consume it. That would usually be the only attack I would get hit by for the night even if I continued to drink. That was when I was episodic. Now on the other hand I can drink during a cycle without getting hit ( and the opposite, getting a brutal hit). Hehe, but then again, I'm chronic so I'm always in a cycle. It all comes down to how I "feel". If I hadn't had anything but some minor shadows during the last couple of days, then I'm pretty safe. On the other hand, If I've had one or two big hits, then drinking is a big no no, unless I want to take a big chance of getting hit by the big kips.

I feel your pain! This has happened to me so many times. In fact, just a couple of nights ago (I'm in week 2 of my cycle) I decided to throw caution to the wind and have a glass of Sangria. Halfway through it, I got nervous and decided not to finish it...too late! I had FOUR CHs that night. Never again.
