Please excuse the newbie a little euphoria....

My latest CH cycle officially ended.  I've gone seven days without a hit or a shadow, and I just passed the beer test.  More significantly, I can FEEL that the &*%^& thing is gone now.

I calculate that this is my 75th cluster headache cycle for a lifetime total of 2250 headaches.  Give or take.  Sheesh.  Is that depressing or what?

Makes no nevermind, though.  I'm always really, really up when the cycle's over.  If the pattern continues, I should be in remission for three years.  Maybe longer, since I'm older.  We'll see.

In any case, no more cluster rituals for a while.  I've got a whole coping mechanism I've developed over time.  Maybe I'll talk about it another time.  As a side benefit, I've learned a lot of weird skills over the years--for example, I can increase or decrease the blood flow to my hands, voluntarily, either right or left or both.  As a result of micromanaging the movement of muscles in my face and scalp, I can flare one nostril or both, and wriggle each ear independently.  Not much use, of course, but it's endlessly amusing to small children.

Last couple of times I had a cycle, I monitored this site and lurked, but then stayed away when I was out of cycle.  This time I might stick around for a while unless everybody gets sick of me.  Could be I might be able to help someone.  I've sure had plenty of experience with the CH.  Forty years episodic.

Regards,

George

Ah! The foreigners put on such airs
Wearing the tangerine suits
And their harlequin eyes.
The pain they inspire
Draws in harmonica melodies
And the feathers of birds
Which flame up at their touch.
It all comes to light in the sheer
Debonair.

That means .... if you started having them at birth, you'd be about 150 years old now. Right ??  Huh Grin

Glad to hear that your cycle has ended. Hopefully it's over for good !

Hi Unsolved,

Naw, it means they came closer together when I was younger.  Every six months for twenty years, then every year for about ten.   Cheesy Cheesy

Best,

George

Cheesh, that's a lot of headaches you've had, George! Shocked I've had loads of HAs during my life, but I haven't counted them that clearly.

Wishing you PF time,
Sanna

Thanks for your replies, everyone.

Still going strong here, so it's really over.  Not a blip.

The ganglion lump that forms at the base of my neck near the spine has disappeared too--that usually doesn't go away until the cycle's been over for two weeks or more.

Yeah, I'm good.  Now all I've got to worry about is the fact that my daughter just got her freshly-minted learner's permit to drive yesterday...

 Shocked
