Has anyone heard of any kind of medicine in an eye drop. On a site I noticed they think the attacks are related to nerved being inflamed behind the eye. You would think that they would want to target that area then with the medicine.

I am not familiar with any meds that go directly into the eye. The problem occurs when the blood vessels surrounding the nerve dilate 200x which then inflames the nerve. This why many use vasoconstrictors

Eric is right. It's the Trigeminal nerve that's affected during a cluster attack. It just so happens that a branch of the Trigeminal controls some of the sensation and motor control of the eye on the affected side. That's why so many of us get the "clusterhead eye droop". Most eye drops are topical only - don't affect the body's systems - there really aren't any major blood vessels there. In other words, a systemic medicine that constricts the blood vessels around the Trigeminal nerve and relieve the pressure on it are the ones that give us rapid relief. Kris

I have to agree with E-Double and Kris. The pain is in the Trigeminal nerve, not the eye even though it sure feels like it is. Welcome to the board Stephanie.
