CH's in May????

I just began a cluster last week...but it is MAY!!! I never get clusters anywhere around May. I usually get them in September/October or January/February. Why is this? Is it becaue I just started a new job and moved? Can CH's be stress-triggered? Any advice?

It seems this has been an unusual year for a lot of us. My usual 2 month cycle started in November..........refuses to end!!! I don't know what's going on except to say the only predictable thing about these is that they are consistently unpredictable. For me, stress will trigger a headache when in cycle but has never started a cycle. Good luck to you!!! Guiseppi

Over the many years I have had CH, my episodes have done a switcheroo on me several times. They are almost always spring or fall, but as Guiseppi suggested, that's where the predictability ends for me.

The beast makes the rules to this game, all you can do is try and beat him at his own game. For me it was Lithium and Verapamil.......that cocktail knocked him on his ass for the most part, 02 took care of him the other times. You need a good abortive and preventative! Good luck and never underestimate the beast, thats when he will get ya!

Strange animal this condition of ours. For the beast to morph or mutate on us is not in the least uncommon. In fact, it's been coined that the only thing predictable about this disease is that it is not predictable.

Anytime any place, Done Jan. Feb. March April May June July Aug. Sept. Oct. Nov. and Dec. Never had a regular cycle. Verap and 02 (late 90's) finally set me back to a once every 2 year cycle, then it runs about 5 months. I will take what relief I can get. It's been a long time since april 1982

thanks for the advice people. I really wasnt expecting the beast until September. I am 25, started getting them when I was 20. I guess he saw that I got a new job and got jealous that I was actually feeling happy in my life. my only preventative at this time is Imitrex 100 mg tablets. they work as long as I take them in time. I currently don't have medical insurance, as I have switched jobs to a temp position now. I was a complete idiot when I last visited the doctor in Nov 2005. He asked if I wanted an O2 tank, and I declined because I said I am rarely home. Now I dont give a *^$^ where I am, I would be willing to whip out the tank at work if it will have a .1% chance of aborting it. I want to know...how do you chronics do it? with my cycle, the pain starts off at around a kip 4 or 5 for the first week, then quickly escalates to 7 or 8 for the 2nd week. It may peak at one or 2 nines for the 3 or 4th week, then I'll go into remission. I believe I had a 10 once last year when I was under a tremendous amount of stress, but I don't know. I know that I was sobbing like a baby girl. do chronics always have 8's or 9's? I'll say a prayer for you guys if that is the case. I admire you for just being able to live on. I don't know if any of you know a CH sufferer personally in your area, but if anyone out there is in NYC or Brooklyn, I'd like to talk.

I'm chronic 22+ years, and I can only speak for myself. My hits are all over the Kip Scale, random how high they go. The regimine I'm on for controling this horror does reduce significantly the frequency, duration and intensity of the attacks 90% of the time. However I do have periods of increased activity both spring and fall. This spring was almost as bad as it was two years ago in spring. Possibly a new inner pattern within the pattern? Cycle within a cycle within a cycle? I'll let you know in another 2 years... Other than that, so much of this is frame of mind. Spend the energy living life to the fullest between hits. I know I'm gonna get slammed again in a couple hours or days or even sometimes up to a week maybe a little more. I don't fear the next hit anymore like I used to two years ago. I had gone from one hit a day, for three to five days with a 3-4 day break in between for many many years to getting 5-7 hits a day every day that started that fateful Monday morning, March 2003. Hail the fungus among us.

May and October are the months I worry the most of a cycle starting. As already mentioned, anytime anyplace, you just never know. Hope it's short for you this time around. PF VIBES

I read so many post where the intensity of the attacks varys up and down the kip scale, How most CHer's us oxygen and it helps relieve the attack, I am so jealous in ways, my attacks are always the same, Kip 8 if I can get to the cold water or Ice Pack quick enough and 9++ if I am at all delayed, like at night when I finally do fall asleep, when the onset begins, it presents as a dream and usually: before I wake from my 35/35 minute sleep, its full blown already. I have been surffering an increased frequency for the past 5 or 6 weeks, but I just figured the stress and the move here were presipitating that. I have several trigger factors here that I didn't really have to deal with in Florida, Going up and down the hills here sets them off and the strong odor from the paper mills seems to trigger them too! I find myself suddenly back up to 4 to 5 attacks during the night, every night. Oh well, thank God the water here is abourt 30 degrees colder than where I was in Florida! Given all the bad stuff that is going on in the world I know I am blessed to have the freedom and resources to have running water to combat these attacks! Life could be a lot worse, I wonder what the rumblings from earthquakes would do to the Headache Load?? Happy to be a Free Pappy in America!
