schedule change question

My husband is going to interview for a job Thursday and it is a graveyard position. I am concerned about the time change. He does have himself in a pretty late routine right now due to a prolonged spring all night cluster period.
The job would be from 12:00-7:00 and he has been staying up until around 4:00am.
Any thoughts? I don't want him taking a job if it is going to make his life worse.

I have been working a rotating shift for 35+ years. Change shifts each week....days, graveyard, days, swingshift, repeat. Graveyard and swing shifts are all 7 in a row, days are 6 and 5. Only 2 out of 5 days off periods are on Saturday and Sunday, the rest are during the week days.
The important thing for me is keeping aware of the time. The majority of people (day shift workers) work their 8 hours and go to bed about 4 to 5 hours later, sleep their 7 or so hours and get up and start again. When on the graveyard shift I get off work at 8am, start to relax at about noon and in bed about 1pm and sleep until 8 or 9. This works best for me. Your husband needs to watch the clock and not where the sun is in the sky.
I have always liked the graveyard and swing shifts. I gives me free time to do whatever I want. Since most people are working dayshift and 8am is the beginning of my 'evening' I can go and do things without the crowds the dayshift workers have to put up with. And as a bonus, since 8am is "evening", it's ok to sit in the front yard drinking beer while the neighbors are heading off to work.
Works great for me but my wife hates it. It takes a very special spouse to put up with all the shift changes. God bless them.
But, she won't have to put up with it much longer. On June 30 I will be out of a job. We'll both be home together 24 hours a day. Please pray for us.

Jeff and I just spent 1 and 1/2 years together and it was wonderful. I will pray for you though

The out of work thing is planned. June 30 is my retirement day after 40 years 26 days. Shift work is all my wife has ever known me to do. We've had 30 years of passing each other. She's going to work when I'm getting home. I'm going to bed when she's getting up. I want dinner at 8am, she wants breakfast. She's off on Saturday and Sunday, I'm off on Monday and Tuesday or Thursday and Friday. Big changes are coming! The best part is my retirement income will be more than my salary is now.

With the exception of 8 years, I've been doing all shifts like BobG. I've always like the afternoon and mids best when dealing the CH's. When i worked days it always seemed like I got more CH a day. Besides, on the other shifts it's easier to hide-out when you need to.
Congrats BobG... looks like your hotrod will be enough work to keep ya busy.

We are getting ready for the big interview right now. Shirt and pants are pressed, resume printed out.....(we've had printer issues) Fortunately for him he normally has an office and the ability to just drop and go to his car or office. It will be nice to have him feel good about this part of his life again
