He's Back!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, It's happened again! Here's my night. 9:30 pm Lay down in bed and watch a bit of TV. 10:00 pm Fast asleep! 11:00 pm Wake up frantic! 11:01 pm Out of bed 11:01:30 pm Standing in the bathroom trying to decide if I am going to pass our or throw up! 11:04 Head to the kitchen for an Ice pack, a handfull of Excedrin and a couple of glasses of water. 11:07 Out the door to the Deck so I don't wake the entire house! 11:08-12:00 Sitting in my lawn chair with a fist on each side of my head squeezing as hard as I can then an Ice pack on my right eye for a few minutes then a trip through the yard and around the house back to the chair where I start all over. 12:01am Back inside the house! (not because of the pouring rain but the thunder and lightning is killing me! 12:02am In my recliner with my head in my lap and ice on my temple. 12:45am Finally the Beast starts to ease his grip! 12:50am Pain is gone leaving only the naseau that follows and the realization that after 6 years without a word the beast found me again and is screaming again and as loud as ever. 2:00am Back to the bed to pray that this episode is like the last and only once per day for less than 2 weeks. 8:00am In line at the pharmacy for the refill on my long lost imitrex perscription. I have suffered from this nightmare since I was 14. Wasn't diagnosed correctly until 22. I am now 39. the first 10 years they would come 4-6 times a year for normally 30-40 day's 4 or 5 times a day. Amazing how once the cycle starts you can almost set your watch by the odd feeling that preceeds the pain. After that I had a 2 year stretch pain free. Then they started again and lasted until 6 years ago. The older I've gotten the less the frequency but the more intense the pain.(and when I was 23 I didn't think it could get any worse). I am one of the lucky ones. Imitrex works wonders for me! normally I can head off the pain when I feel the symptoms. Only problem is getting ahold of enough to last through the episode. luckily I have a brother and sister who both suffer migranes and I can call on them if needed to rob their supply. So now all there is to do is Drink lots of water and wait for night to fall when the beast will creep back into my head again. Well thanks for the place for me to vent. Hard to find sympathy when people can't understand what you are going through. JJ

So sorry they're back again! I hate when my long remissions end. Have you tried oxygen yet? Stops many of mine without using my precious imitrex! Also, have you thought of a preventitive? I take lithium when on cycle to reduce the frequency and severity of the head aches. Others use topomax, verapamil, and other stuff that I can't for the life remember right now! Read the medications web site see what's available! Wishing you peace and some pain free time. Guiseppi

GET YOURSELF SOME OXYGEN! Works for 60-70% of us to abort . . . and you can save the Imitrex for the hits the 02 doesn't reach. VERY effective for many of us . . . and relatively inexpensive with no side effects. You owe it to yourself to try this therapy. Be Safe, PFDANs Richard

I can live with the beast as long as I don't have to "dance" with the bastard.
