Getting Depressed - read this!

Well, here i go again - tomorrow will be one week PF! Last week was a false alarm. Now that I've had some sleep I am feeling better and my outlook is becoming spring feverish! Current sufferers: hang on, even if this cycle is your longest, weirdest, most painful it will be over soon and just as you have felt the WORST you have ever felt you will then be able to feel the BEST you've ever felt. There can be no light without dark, the more used to the dark you are the brighter the light will seem. Our unique pain allows us to experience unique joy as well. Today I will relish all that I judge to be good, I will bathe in the light and be free as the wind, I will drink heavy fromthe cupof gladness, I will eat from the altar of thankfulness, I will "know of" many a beautiful women, I will swollow the seed from the grapes of exuberance, and I will go forth and prosper in joy! Unless it is another false alarm in which case this has been a test - this is only a test. If this have been a true cycle end you would be seeing joy and happiness. We now return youto your regularly scheduled lives. Seriously, hang on - the light is on the way and when it comes enjoy it shamelessly as it is a right each of us has earned!

Nice post! I'm glad to hear your cycle is over, Jamey. (You are Jamey, right, LOL) I'm having a hard time keeping track of who's who lately. I will add... even if you're chronic or in cycle... you can still "swollow the seed from the grapes of exuberance" when you're between hits.

It seems I really am out of cycle. Today was the first dau in months I didn't: forget my wallet or my glasses, lose my keys, forget work at work, forget to let the dogs out, forget to the let the dogs in, cry, wishI could cry, or a million other things I screwed up while I was in cycle. I remembered EVERYTHING today....... One thing I've noticed is, when I think about my cycle, now that I've slept for a week, my cycle seems like it was a dream, like it never happened, or like it happened a long time ago (in ahead far away), or to someone else. Anyone else ever get like this?

Jamey, Good post. I'm so glad to hear that you're PF! I hope that your remission lasts for a long, long time. Back in my chronic days, depression was creeping in. But I must warn all those who are PF after long cycle: depression can visit then, too. That happened to me and I thought that it was so strange! I suppose that it was my mind's way to deal with the fact that long time with pain was over for a while. Now when ch is back, I've been stronger. It has been easier to deal with it, because I know that it's possible to have PF time. And I know what to expect. The support here and from my boyfriend have made all the difference, too. I wish that all the sufferers, no matter what kind of pain they suffer from, would have a bunch of supporting people to turn to. Best wishes & PFdays, Sanna

Thanks Sanna. And I have a question for you "back when you were chronic?" You mean us episodics can go chronic for a while or (gulp) even "ever"? Jamey

| Some of us have always been Chronic, and yes Episodics have gone chronic, and visa versa. The beast has it's own agenda, and one never knows what the next cycle will bring. However regardless of if you are ECH or CCH, attitude is key in my opinion.

| Sorry, more like a nightmare that I know I will have to relive next year. But don't get me wrong, I treasure my pf times. Glad to hear that you're cycle is ending.

Thanks folks and I wish to pass on the PF vibes I've been endulging myself in to all current sufferers. I took a 3 day vacation this week, to sleep mostly, and I ALMOST forgot my last 3 Relpax. I must be better. Time to call my Doc and stock backup for my next joyride. Everyone bell well and PF. Jamey

| There is more to that statement than you know. After 30 years chronic my HA's went away, I have no idea why. I had one last week, first one in 15 months.....im still good to go!...fluke? I never thought it would go away, it did.....but with you all behind me and what I have learned here I am ready for war if it comes!!!!!

It is up to YOU to educate yourself and then help your doctor plan your treatment. If you just sit down in front of your doctor and say "make me better" you are setting yourself up for a great deal of pain.

Wow - you lucky dog. I hope one day everyone's just vanish, though thrity years is a long wait! I must admit I am fearful of "going chronic", which I dif not even know could happen until I came here. I can't imagine being chronic and my respect and sincere well wishes go out to all chonics. Jamey

| I love this post. My cycle has been going on for 6 months now. I have had a lot of luck controlling the intensity of my HAs with Verap, Melatonin, occasional O2, and Maxalt MLT (very rare). I convinced myself in January that I was chronic. My only PF time from CH (since my first HA) was time I had extreme arm pain (and neck surgery followed). As soon as the pain in my neck/arm ended, the Beast returned the very next day. Anyway, I convinced myself that I was going to be chronic and that I wouldn't allow the beast to win. Since then I have led my life like normal (except meeting up with some Chers one time which can NOT be called normal) and refused to let CH control me. Anyway, in cycle or not, the beast has no more domain over my mental state. To make a short story less long, attitude IS EVERYTHING.
