saw the new dr

I finally saw the new dr. I had typed up two pages, one with a journal of the clusters since 10-05, and the second with questions and a brief history, and a 3rd handwritten page was a description of a cluster headache I woke up to on 3-20-06. The dr said he was overwhelmed. He answered my questions and discussed some of the options I asked about, and asked me where I heard about them (here). He did help me and he is willing to help me, but he was thinking migraine and still is, really. I can e-mail him if I need anything, and check back in in a few months in person. Thanks for all your prayers and moral support. Charlotte

Hi Charlotte, Sounds like you've got your doctor all sorted What is it with doctors who think women only get migranes?? I've not read your other threads (cos I've been busy) playing catch up now.... so I'm not sure where you're at... but do hope you're getting lots of pf time since seeing him. Kate

Thanks, Kate. The screwed part is that he said to let him know what has worked in the past - and nothing worked in the past for the end stage. I was so depressed, I jumped up, said"It's OK, I'm not in a hurry, it's not going to kill me," and started to leave. He had me wait a minute, we talked a little more, and he made sure I have the most Maxalt my insurance allows. He wants me to take Inderal for a year or two. It lowered the pain 2 notches but didn't prevent anything. The cycle he helped me with actually ended and another one started shortly thereafter, before I saw him. This one is milder. I still don't know what to do to make it through the end of a bad cycle, besides pray. Charlotte

| And after all that he is still thinking Migraines???? I don't want to put this Dr. down because I think he IS trying to be helpful, but it sure irritates me to no end that Dr.s refuse to listen, or that they won't educate themselves better. You did good to have brought all the data and did the research though Charlotte. I can't remember if you told me in Sacramento if you'd tried Verapamil or Lithium in the past. If you haven't, you might want to try that. Linda
