Depakote increase makes Ch Worse?

Has anyone had the experience of increased dosage of Depakote making CH worse? I seemed to be improving with 1-1/2 80 mgs 3 x daily verapamil, 2 x 250 mgs depakote, and 6 x10 mgs predisone. The Dr. told me to increase the depakote to 3 x 250 mgs and I had a really bad night, started 1 hour after I took the increased dosage. Anybody else have this experience?

That's for sure, I'm still curious re: can an increase in depakote cause a worsening effect on CH? I'm thinking of going back to where I was and increasing the verapamil a bit, I see the Neuro next Wed. Thanks Eric. When do you expect to be in my area?

Yes it can make it worse, my experiance with it caused me to go from 3 to 4 hits a day to 8 or 9. I quit taking it within days of starting the use of it, a day or so later the hits went back down to 3 or 4 a day.

Well, I didn't have the problem of my ch's getting worse when my dosage was upped, but I did have a prob. with my brain feeling like it was bubbling and frying. It wasn't until we reduced the dosage, to the 250mg I believe, that I felt better and my ch's reduced in frequency (but unfortunately, not severity ). mel

My dr prescribed depakote extended release for me today. Does it make you groggy/foggy/tired- anything that affects your reflexes and thinking ability? I am worried about it. I won't be able to take it if I cant work on it. don't want to take it if it isnt gonna work either. Kim

| That is exactly what I experienced with the added bonus of an increase in attacks

I took alot of Depakote for an extended period of time. Not sure if it made it worse or not. Come to think of it, it was one of the most painful periods in my life ! It surely didn't help a thing. Topomax definately Fucked things up ! Goodluck UNsolved

| My experience with Topamax. Topamax did not work for me. Some of the things I experienced are listed here: Listlessness, confusion, inability to focus, cognitive difficulties, somnulence, staggering gait, depression, uselessness, etc. I realize some of these are, or could, be attributable to the long period of sleep dep I was recovering from and general inactivity, but overall, it was not a pleasant experience. Others have had better luck. Anyway, those are my observations so far. I definitely will not be trying Topamax again. I hope your experience is better. pf wishes
