Hey to all, God Bless the creator of this site and to all the wonderful People who suffer a poor quality of life from this illness. As you can see I am new to the site. Just a few questions to see if anyone catches this feeling before, and after the torrent Beast. First the urge to drain the bladder at the onset? Second, hunger urge after the SOB lifted? Food seems to help the cobbwebs go away quicker. Driving down a road or on a highway I feel the pressure as I pass under larger cloud masses, reaching the blue sky is like lifting a cinder block off my head. In a dark theater I can tell the first drop of rain hits the pavement outside. People will actualy ask me the weather for the up coming days to plan an outdoor event. Been a sufferer for eleven years. Have been on many different med's, now use O2, imitrex, Varapamill, and Thank You Jesus Cafragot, to let me sleep at night. With a six hour window between imitrex and Cafragot. May God Bless us all and show someone a cureall.

Findaway- Welcome to the board I am glad that you found your way here as I did just a short while ago. It seems that you have many of the appropriate treatments, but I do not have, and have not read about, your particular observations regarding the bladder, hunger ,or the clouds, although weather can certainly play a role in the onset of attacks. God bless you also. Please stick around share and learn. All here understand and share your pain. All the best. rich

"With a six hour window between imitrex and Cafragot. " It is very dangerous to take these 2 medicines within 24 hours of eachother. Please read the insert that comes with your medicines and talk to your pharmacist. It can cause heart failure amongst other things.

God bless you and welcome to our intimate club! Interesting that you use cafergot to sleep. Meds affect us all so differently. My wife (almost) loves when I take cafergot at night. I'll be wide awake for the next 6-8 hours doing (quiet) housework! It totally wires me!~ Again, welocme to the site, learn what you can and keep sharing with us, it's how a lot of us learn Guiseppi

The weather is a CH trigger for me. I've noticed recently when the barometric pressure decreases, the attacks are more frequent. The hunger could be associated with depression - I feel so bad - physically, emotionally, mentally, after cycle that I'll eat - but it's becuz I'm depressed, not related to the CH attacks. It's just my opinion though. During a migraine, I urinate frequently - which may be from all the water I drink. Do you drink a lot of water? I'm so sorry to hear you are a CH'er too. This support group is a godsend! Best regards, Suziq

O2, and H2O. Plenty of both. All the time. And yes, the water will make you urinate frequently. Just not necessarily right before an attack.

I second the "watch out taking triptans and cafergot" within 6 hours of each other. READ the warnings. There's a 24 hour window..... Try melatonin at night and some benadryl to sleep. Cafergot stops my CH, but it doesn't put me to sleep. Guess we're all different. (That was a stupid remark - of course we're all different!) I agree with the weather being a trigger - I'm a better predictor than any weatherman around here. Between the CH and the arthritis - I can call a rain storm days in advance . And I'm so lucky to live in a state where the barometer goes up and down hourly! don't get the hunger bug. That's about the last thing on my mind after a hit. I usually just sit and stare at the walls exhausted. But I am usually thirsty (in fact a few times I've taken a reading on my blood sugar thinking I might be going diabetic - excessive thirst is one of the first signs). Welcome to Clusterville. Read all the stuff on the left and know now you're not alone any more. Someone is here 24/7 to help, support or just listen to you vent - whatever you need. Hugs BD

Thank You, To all welcoming me into relationship of caring, knowledgable, & totally understading friends. Your replies helped and also put the fear in me. Over the last day I devolped a head cold. Seeing my Doc today, prescribed a one day new Antibiotic(Zmax-azithromycin extended release)2g, drinking it a one shot deal. Being sensivtive to head cold Meds. what are some of the options a CH to do? Nasal cold sprays will open me up but seem to become a trigger. Had one hell of a time with sleeping last night or "not"!! Was not able to use the Cafragot with all the Imitrex in me. Will take advise on window of time between meds. Can not put to words how I wish everyone who suffers specially "Bless there little souls" Children, For God to give someone the know how to help us, to open up this message board and see that miraculous break through. Thanks Again......

Hi Findaway- Welcome to the best little nut house around. Interesting post; I agree almost as soon as a hit comes on I need to go strangle the snake, not something to look forward to trying to bash your head and at the same time concentrate on direction. Hunger is another thing altogether, after getting hit I’m so zapped that all I need is rest, to think about food would take too much brain power. You mention the weather: I’ve recently been going through my old work diary’s, I work in the environmental field and record weather conditions along with other normal day happenings in my tree hugging work and it’s starting to look like I start a cycle during very hot 40 – 50 deg C heat combined with hight humidity ranging from 80 – 98 %. I am an episodic and have only been hit every five years and finished my last cycle in February 2005 but a fortnight ago the weather changed to high hot & humid, I wont say that I was going back into cycle but after only having one beer ( my main trigger )during this hot wet period I got hit with a Kip 2-3 two nights in a row, “ killed them very quickly with o2” so off the beer I went for 2 weeks and now it’s got dryer and cooler I tried a beer or 2 or more & no hits. Back in cycle yes, no, yes, no, yes, no, who knows? Kind Regards Barry

| You mention one preventative. Discuss the several night time hits you're getting with your doc and perhaps work on attempting to adjust the dosage a bit for a little more protection, if you think the verapamil is effective for you and blocking more hits you might have had. You didn't mention how much you are taking of it but sometimes another 120mg can make a difference. And if the O2 works also, use that instead of a second different med. I don't know how old you are but, waking at night seems to also make me aware something else is disturbing my comfort and a trip to the bathroom becomes a competing thought upon waking. I don't think it's CH related though. Welcome

Imitrex 100mg,Imitrex injections, inderal, midrol,Prova,Varapimilland the usual pain killers, if anyone has any ideas besides chopping my head off please feel free to comment. Also, I'm looking for a good chatroom with people who suffer along with me.Thanks for letting me vent, and God bless.

The chat room is usually busy after about 9 PM central time, as we both contemplate and fear sleep. If you want to chat, and no one is there, post on the general board that you want to chat and post the link to the room, and someone is sure to be in there in no time. About the Melatonin/Benadryl combination....how much benadryl do you take and how much melatonin? We all have different tolerance levels, and the blend that worked well for me for many months was 9-12 mg Melatonin to 50 mg benadryl.

Hi findaway, Welcome aboard. Sorry you have to be here. Similar compulsion after a bad hit. CANNOT get enough to satiate. Reminds me of younger days and the munchies. On the other hand, when healthy, happy, and WAY out of cycle, I weigh 190 (on a 6'3" frame) with a normal appetite. During widely spaced cycles weigh 185, with an erratic appetite, and during frequent cycles or the current long b***h, I have no appetite, despite the post hit binges, and weigh 178. (too skinny!) Could be the result of reaction to pain or that there dodgy hypothalamus. Regards Jon
