1. how big is it ?

2.where yours is located?

3.when did you get it?

4.does it go away?

The reason I ask is I have a lump on the side of my neck 1" below my right ear (not the Cluster side) for about 6yrs now and was told it's fatty tissue could be,
but just read about the cluster lump never heard of it.

It's like a nodule (sp?) yet it gets bigger and more firm as it get's inflamed during a high cluster period

2.where yours is located?

Exactly the same place you described. Right side/CH side

3.when did you get it?

When cycle began

4.does it go away?

It gets smaller but has not left.
I do not know if this is a chronic thing

Yours just may be adipose tissue. If it doesnt hurt don't sweat it

If it's a marble sized lump that you can move around under the skin, it's probably a subaceous cyst (fatty tissue).  Had one cut out of my shoulder some years back.

I get a lump right between the top of my shoulder bllades, gets hard as a knot right before a big hit, doesn't go away entirely until the cycle ends-this is month 11 of cycle.  My husband has noticed when he gives me neck rubs, and he can feel the difference.
Just one more selling point for the wonderful world of clusterheadaches!

Now I am beginning to wonder if this mysterious 'cluster lump' is similar to my glands that swell on the side of my neck. They are like a string of pearls. Massaging those triggers a CH!!

I have a little bump just behind my ear on the cluster side about the size of a pearl.

I just noticed one day and never really figured out when I got it.

Has never gone away, but does seem to be larger now that I am in a cycle.

Kind of always felt like a pimple but harder and when you push on it it recedes .

Yesterday, I wish I knew why!!!, my gland swelling went away. I had a sudden drainage in my throat, then no more stiff neck. I slept great last night@! Any position I wanted too. I didn't have to lay my head at any certain angle to prevent a CH.
This morning, I had a kip 2 after I got up. Chased him away with a couple of O2 snorts.

Damn, I wish I knew what this meant. I wish I knew a Neuro that might even listen to me about it.

At the OUCH convention in Vancouver, 2002, Dr. Richardson explained the sore neck / lump as a nerve ganglion being inflammed.  I wish we had asked him to elaborate.  I've searched diagrams of the nervous system and have yet to find anything that matches up to were my neck hurts during a cycle.

For a long time before I knew it was CH, I always thought it was the lump that actually caused the headaches - as if it was a trapped nerve or the like.

Many years later a neuro told me it was an inflamed ganglion of nerves and over three days gave me three injections directly into it trying to break it up.  Weirdest shots I ever had, like a mixture of air and ice crystals.

For all that it was about as effective as the Frozen Banana therapy but, hey, I'll grasp at any straw.

Another possiblity is a benign tumor called Cholesteatoma, which grows around the ear, "usually" in the inner ear, but not always. The size varies from pea sized to that of a medium orange.
Not related to CH however. Possibly you have a couple of problems.
