I don't know how to search on this board so maybe this has been discussed, but, does anyone think there may be a link to this AWFUL artificial sweetener and cluster headaches? Up until my most recent attack period, I was an aspartame addict of sorts. I drank diet soda every time, sometimes excessively. It was my source of caffeine. But after I heard that aspartame is suspected of nerve damage, and that the industries involved have been hiding studies, I quit. I don't know if it'll help me but I'm hopeful. Haven't touched the stuff in 2 months. Anyone else on here ingest too much of this stuff?

I clearly wasn't trying to insinuate that cluster headaches are solely related to aspartame. MS was around long before aspartame too...but many doctors are now starting to believe that neurological/nerve disorders are getting worse becasue of it.

Some people with CH have said that aspartame is a trigger for them. MSG is for a lot of folks as well as alcohol for some. Then there are those it's NOT. We're all different. None of these affect me, so.... With CH it's hit and miss with each of us. Best advice - it you think it MIGHT trigger a CH - don't do it. I didn't get around beer for years and years and then one day drank one and it didn't trigger a CH - go figure.... The only thing predictible about CH is the UNpredictibility... Hugs BD
