Finally... my "A-Ha"!

Reading so many of the stories here, I don't have a whole lot to add - other that a whole lot of head-bobbing and "yeah, me too!"

I'm just turning 40 now and have finally figured out that I'm a clusterhead...  after nearly 25 years of being treated for sinus infections, allergies, and migraines.

I figure I've ingested about 40 pounds of Excedrin over these years - in addition to all the Sudafed, Guai, methocarbomal, Tylenol 3 ... oxycodone...

I was finally seen by a reallly sharp neurologist who looked at the cycles, history, and pain levels said that it sounded like a text-book case of CH. He pointed me to this site, and I was floored - A-HA... THAT'S IT!

Thanks to everyone for being so open and sharing.

I'm just now tapering down from an initial "blast" of prednisone, and am taking Verapamil with Imitrex as my abortive.

Hopefully I'll be learning a lot more as I read here - at this juncture, it's just AMAZINGLY comforting to know that I'm not just "super-sensitive" to a bad headache - and that I don't have to "just live with it"!

Peace,
MJ

It is up to YOU to educate yourself and then help your doctor plan your treatment. If you just sit down in front of your doctor and say "make me better" you are setting yourself up for a great deal of pain.

Absolutely new to all of this as a supporter. Cannot express my gratitude in all the info I have learned. Feel like I'm treading water

One word of advice now you're diagnosed - don't try to tell any women that you now know what the pain of childbirth's like!
