My name is Liz. I have never had a headache in my life until two months ago. They woke me up and I was amazed by the pain. I was given drugs to sleep and then nine MRI's w/ and w/out dye. I am not sure if these are clusters but am told they are. They are always at the same time each day. They gave me a calcium blocker but it is not helping. I need an imotrex each day to get through. The pain is not as bad but still there. Are there treatments that they are not telling me about?? Thanks and wide awake at 11:23 waiting for it to hit again.

http://www.plainboard.com/ch/chtherapy.pdf Here are some common treatments. Caffeine will help abort individual attacks...save the imitrex for the nighttime hits, use caffeine to abort the ones during the daytime. condsider Melatonin before bedtime it helps some get sleep without getting the wake up demon. Welcome and others will come with more information for ya. be strong. CH will not kill you thebb Edit: oh ya check out the oxygen info on the left ...what a life saver

Welcome, Liz! I'm so sorry that you have ch. But you'll find lots of information about different treatments and medications right here. And not to mention, a lot of people who will know what you're going through. So, when you have questions, need to vent or someone to talk to, come right here! Lots of pain-free (PF) time, Sanna

Try and get oxygen prescribed. Started at that first twinge I can abort in less then 10 minutes. The imitrex is great because it's quick but I hate how it makes my skin crawl and i worry that it causes my cycle to extend. You'll see many many people post about 02 because it has no side effects, it works fast and works well. Welcome to the nut house, hope you find relief soon. Guiseppi

Here is a link to read and print and take to your doctor. It describes preventive, transitional, abortive and surgical treatments for CH. Written by one of the better headache docs in the U.S. (2002) http://www.brightok.net/~mnjday/chtherapy.pdf
