This is my first post but I've been reviewing the information on this site for the past two weeks and it's been extremely helpful!  Unlike many of you, I'm new to CH, having just started getting them about 1.5 years ago.  They first came for a period of several weeks only when triggered by alcohol and a doctor prescribed Maxalt.  After several months of no headaches, they're back but come and go as they %&*$#@! please, sometimes up to 3 a day with no triggers that I can determine.  I'm currently into a 2 month period of almost daily headaches.  I'm now using Verapamil and Topomax along w/ the Maxalt and I seem to be getting some relief.  Thanks to this site I've just tried the Red Bull and it has worked the 1st two times...Thanks!  Looking forward to learning more and getting acquainted....

Hi Steve,

Welcome to the family - sorry you have to be here.

Here's a good link to some info you and your doctor might find of interest.  While you're getting some relief now, you might find that oxygen is the perfect abortive for those hits that break through.  We all have different arsenals.  Keep working towards the one that works for you.

Hi Steve
 wave
Welcome to the nut hut; working CH out is a big learning curve but we’ve got the best tutors available, as they say if you want to know what’s going to win the race ask the horse.

Cheers

Welcome to the board, have you tried oxygen? Going on 30 years it's still my number  one abortive. Will stop a CH in its tracks in less then 8 minutes for me if it's started soon enough.

Hope you find some help and do stick around!!!!

Hi Steve!

Welcome to clusterfamily! Smiley
I'm so sorry that you have clusters, though. But I am glad that you found your way here; this is the place for us clusterheads.

BTW, when I was first diagnosed back in 2003, my first painkiller was Maxalt as well. After that and trying many others, I'm using only Red Bull now. I'm glad that it has helped you as well.

Lots of PF days,
Sanna

Hey Steve

Great to hear about the PF days, the Verap and Topo seem to be doing the job for you, just keep a Redbull on standby to deal with the occasional breakthrough and you should be fine!

Good luck mate
