My name is Tomas and there is no doubt in my mind that the pain I've been experiencing has been, and still is cluster headaches: far worse than the migraines I had in the 80's. My neurologist hasn't quite labled them as such but seems to be medicating them appropriately (and am glad to say FINALLY succesfully): Fioricet w/ codeine, Depakote, and Maxalt. All of them effective to some degree or another for the time being. He does seem a bit hesitant to let go off his Migraine theory... I am going to try oxygen and hope to get a precription so it'll be covered. Anyway, I am at least now able to recognize onset, the pain behind the eye, and a burining in my ear. When I feel the burn, I medicate up! I have all the symptoms but was unsure about my eye drooping... I had alway slook undermy eye but in fact it is the space between my eyebrow and my eye that closes ups. This was confirmed byu my boss today who has been supportive of my missing every Friday for Occipital nerve blocks (both sides three times to no avail,) and a couple of cervical epidurals (also to no avail.) I found this board helpful. Will try the WWW, and the oxygen, as well as anything else that seems like it might work. Has anyone tried Chiropractic? The Sacro-Occip Technique specifically? I found the pictures on the site the most helpful because until now I felt like nobody undertands. My wife does only in that shes taken me to the Emergency room at 2:30 AM, I've left the house inexplicably at 3:am trying to run from the pain, I've done 2:45 am trips to the drug store, I wrythed in pain, and paced in agony. I even shaved my head because it just felt liek it was on friggin' fire! I've been reduce to tears and thanked god I didn't have a gun in the house. Actually we do but its a paintball gun and although I may end up looking a bloody mess it'd only been paint She's been supportive but still can't possibly "get it." I've given up trying to explain. Anyway, my point is the pictures made me understand that there are other people in the same boat, not that I take any comfort in your pain, I just don't feel so alone. I have over the last months started to keep a pain journal and am trying to understand the cyle (which I think peaked mid March). Anyway, hello. Tom

The Fioricet: Butalbital, acetaminophen, and caffeine did nothing. The Fioricet with Codeine helps some of the Time. My sense from reading through all the posts on this board, before posting myself, is that what works for others may not neccesarily work for you. AussieBrian, Its good that you have a sense of humour but I'm not finding it funny. The Epidurals were done because the Occipital Nerve Blocks didn't work and the Dr.s were thinking its bulging discs which might be the problem. I did although ask about the shots of course, and was told that the spinal column carries fluids to the brain stem. Where's your head at?
