Im 26 and first experianced the pain about 6 yrs ago. Mainly first thing in the morning, nearly got kicked out of school because people thought i was lazy. Iv'e had headaches before but this pain must be the worst ever. Been ok for a few years but 3 weeks ago i was awoken with a pain, as soon as i awoke I knew the same old shite had started again. Walking around my flat somehow trying to control the pain. After 4 nights of being awoken at the same time by the same pain i've contemplated jumping off my balcony to get rid of the pain. Only the sight of my fiance lying asleep has stopped it. Week 2 no pain sleeping better, great i thought, then yesterday while in work, outta no where pain. my right eye on fire, my pulse seeemingly racing at 1000mph, sweating, dizzy close to vomitting, jesus I cant remember it being like this. Went for a sleep on my dinner hour woke up and gone. This is madness. Off today had the pain pretty much all day but at exactly the same time it got alot worse. Tried getting to sleep but felt like pillow was trying to suffocate me. Been to docs on many occassions, but same old shite. Its stress wah wah wah. Had tests few years ago all clear. Please help guys I cant be doing with this shite again

I am sorry to hear you are in pain... welcome aboard! you do not mention if you are on any medication or if you already got a diagnosis from a Doc.. also as far as I know we can't sleep while having a hit, at least I just can't not even sit still for a second.. please we need to get more info about what are you taking for the pain.. we are here to help, you are not alone in anyway.. others will a lot of experience will come here and greet you, but in the meantime, fill up the questionaire on your left and see if you match with the cluster..

Welcome to the board. Please take some time and try the cluster quiz on your left and see how you score. Then start keeping a detailed headache diary. When they start, when they stop, how fast the pain ratchets up, using the kip scale how high up do they go? How long do they stay at the peak pain? Have you identified any triggers? The diagnosis of headaches is complicated and the details are very important. Then get yourself to a neurologist or a doctor who specializes in headaches. The correct diagnosis is so critical in determining a treatment plan. I hope you don't have cluisters, they suck! If you do welcome to your new home. Guiseppi

Hello and welcome Sorry to hear you have these bad pain. Relentless pain can make people think desperate thoughts quite commonly. Hang in there, things do get better. You need to see a doctor/specialist who is experienced with treating headaches. There are literally hundreds of different types of headaches, some are very different but some are similar. Therefore it is very important that you get a proper diagnosis so that you can get the best treatment for it. Let us know a bit more about your condition and where you are, someone in or near your area will come along a bit later to help with a name /number of a headache doctor who will be able to help more. Take care and painfree wishes to you. Annette

| Yes you can! Quit telling yourself this. The first step, even before getting the proper medical help, is getting the right attitude. You CAN deal with this, It isn't fun. It isn't easy. But it CAN be done! NEVER let your illness, what ever it is, get you down! Get your mind right, get good medical help, and then a good game plan for dealing with what ever it is you have! Good luck! Chuck

| Hey Welshman -- First, I'm sorry you're dealing with this and that you are in pain. Second, listen to Chuck !!! Keep in mind with the right doctor and the right medication and O2 , the condition is managable !! As Chuck said, it is not fun and it is not easy sometimes but just know it can be managed -- don't let it manage you !! (been doing this for 21 years and I'm one of the short timers here...) Wishing you luck and much pain free time !!! T.

Thanks for advice guys, was ok last night but the pain started just as i was leaving for work, phoned the docs and they said go get your eyes tested. Done that and i'll be getting some glasses. They said the fact i'm waking up in the night suggests against eye strain being the reason for this. The optician actually asked if iv'e heard of cluster headaches. Going to the docs next week. Gonna do the survey now i'll update you on how it goes. Thanks again Oh by the way its Jamie, from Barry S.Wales UK

i agree that you could have a migraine/CH sort of combo because of the nausea and ability to lie down and sleep...whatever you are dealing with sounds like you are going to have to be pushy with your doctor so make sure you dont let up until you have what you need! and yes, listen to chuck, he will be good for you. i had to deal with the go see the eye doctor too...got some glasses but i never wear them unless ive been studying for ages, then i admit my distance vision gets a little bad...oh well. at least it wasnt a visit in vain for you. hope the drs visit goes well. lisa
