A good headache doctor

Hey everyone I just moved to the New Smyrna Beach area of Florida and have looked everywhere for a decent neurologist that specializes in headaches without much success. The doctor I'm seeing is at least good for Maxalt and prednisone prescriptions but nothing to help knock me out of cycle. No prevents, just abortives I was seeing a great specialist in New Jersey, she actually asked me to call her every couple days to see how it was going and she would adjust the meds accordingly, usually killing the beast in a month or two. Anybody know of a good doctor in central Florida? I'll travel to wherever. I'd really appreciate some help here. By the way,for anybody in the South Jersey area, my ex doctors name was Loretta Mueller at the University of Pennsylvania Headache clinic in Stratford NJ.She knows what she's doing Thanks

1. Search the OUCH site (button on left) for a list of recommended M.D.s. 2. Yellow Pages phone book: look for "Headache Clinics" in the M.D. section and look under "neurologist" where some docs will list speciality areas of practice. 3. Call your hospital/medical center. They often have an office to assist in finding a physician. You may have to ask for the social worker/patient advocate. 4. http://www.achenet.org/physicians/ On-line screen to find a physician. 5. http://www.headaches.org/consumer/index.html Call 1-800-643-5552; they will send a list of M.D.s for your state.I suggest using this source for several reasons: first, we have read several messages from people who, even seeing neurologists, are unhappy with the quality of care and ATTITUDES they have encountered; second, the clinical director of the Jefferson (Philadelphia) Headache Clinic said, in late 1999, that upwards of 40%+ of U.S. doctors have poor training in treating headache and/or hold attitudes about headache ("hysterical female disorder" which block them from sympathetic and effective work with the patient; third, it's necessary to find a doctor who has experience, skill, and a set of attitudes which give hope of success. This is the best method I know of to find such a physician.

Linda, how do I get my neuro on that list? He's very good. Dr. Mayur Maniar Sunrise Medical Group 4925 Sheridan St, #200 Hollywood, FL 33024 954-981-3850 Rwalt, if you can't find a good one up there, you may want to do the 100 mile trek to Hollywood.

Hey, I go to Dr Mueller also. She must have had a thing for you, because she never suggested that I call her every couple of days. She sees me about once a month, and when I do need to talk to her, there is never a time when an actual human answers the phone in that office. When you leave a message, sometimes you get a response , but most times you dont, and you have to cell back two or three more times. this is probably the office staff not passing messages like they should, but sometimes it is frustrating. Anywaay, I am going to see her next week, I will tell her hello for you if you want to PM me with your name etc. good luck in FL (I would love to live there, get away from this crappy weather in NJ) chrisw
