This is my first time on this site, and I have learned a lot about CH from this site. I will tell part of my history and symptoms with the purpose to maybe make a difference for someone. My CH started when I was nineteen years old while I was in the military in 1976. At this time in my life they had no idea of what a CH was, and how to treat it. I have the episodic type of CH, though I had many names for them through my 20-30's of life. I have been fairly symptom free for the last 4 years, until last Friday which was an experience that I have not had for quite some time a KP8. This episode shook me both physically and emotionally but did not break my spitit of hope on the inside. My attacks have been 95% of the time precisely 30-45 minutes after I wake up. I can literally set a timer to when the attacks will start. In times past the attacks would last up to three hours, always on the right side of my head, and in my right eye. However, the other 5% of the time I have had attacks during different times of the day, and waking me from sleep. It seems over the past 31 years of CH I have tried every medication known to man. The only thing that has helped in the past has been the nasal spray Imitrex 20mg. I have had somewhat success recently with Excedrin for migraine on low level attacks. At this time I am not sure on my current course of medical attention with this new unexpected episode. As always, I truly believe that I need to address the CH both physically and spiritually. This might sound like foolish advise to some, however after 31 years of dealing with CH, I still have never doubted and Keep The Faith.

Not foolish at all, Keep. I use two scales to measure mine, Kip and Cope. If it's a K8 and I'm coping well, no problem, but just a K2 when my Cope has plummetted then I'm in more trouble than a one-armed paper-hanger in a wind storm. If your faith is with you then then you're 99% ahead of the game before you've even started. May your God be with you.

I also welcome you to the board and think you are right as well, your outlook is very crucial and is something I fight with all the time and wish I was better at. You have found a great place to be and a wealth of information to use to battle the beast. There are so many good people here and everyone truly understands your pain. Matt

It's a good thing. I wonder what God thinks when I cuss Him, and then beg for help, and then cuss Him some more?Sure I'm flopping in pain but, this must concern Him. I pray for forgiveness, He is forgiving,or I must prepare for severe warmth. Seems a few pain levels include cussing and praying. at least for me jb

I somehow think that the severe pain I feel is for a reason. I know that it makes me much more sympathetic to others in pain.
