New..can anyone answer some ?'s  for me?

Hi ...Im Abbie and I am brand new to this.
I am almost positive that I suffer from CH as well...just havn't been officially diagnosed yet.  I have a CT scan tomorrow and am terrified, as I always dread the worst.
Ill tell you my symptoms and maybe if some of you share the same, please let me know. I have been reading alot of the posts and it all seems like what I go through every day, just maybe a few differences. First off, they start as a dull pressure behind my eye, as if something is pushing my eyeball out. Then, a bump on the right side of my head seems to be the trigger point. Sometimes if I rub it, it helps.  Sometimes the pain is bad, but mostly, its like a constant pressure on the right side of my head. In my sinus, behind my eye, and the lower part of my skull behind my ear. I hate it!!! It drives me mad, consuming my thoughts.  Its like the right side of my head is heavier than the left and the pressure keeps building. Any of this the same fo anyone else? Also it makes me feel ill sometimes, cause its an awkward feeling. The major difference I notice from other ppl is, the only thing that helps me is if I go to sleep. I can wake up and feel normal in the am for a few hours and then it hits again. Huh

Abbie,
Welcome to the board sorry to hear your having a rough time at the moment, you have obiviously seen a doctor as your going for a scan.  What your describing seems to differ from CH but Iam no Doctor.  Have you tried taking the Cluster test which under one of the buttons on the left of the page.  It might help you decide what happening, most of us can't sleep with the pain, or even lay down.  There are lots of other types of headache out there, hopefully you won't have CH.  Do have a read round and let us know how you get on with nyour scan.         Cheers Roy Smiley

You won't find sleep on anybody's list of abortives here.

I'm with Roy. Take the cluster quiz. It doesn't sound like you are experiencing ch.

CT is quick. You'll spend more time with the paperwork than in the machine. Let us know how it turns out.

Then you will be the only one in the history of Cluster headaches that can do that.  I can't even lie down with a shadow which is about a 2 or 3 on the KIP scale.

I know you're new here but I urge to to read the links to the left, especially the cluster quiz.

Don't be scared of the CT scan...it's just an ominus machine and the chances you have something serious like what you're thinking....are one in 10 bazillion hon.

What you describe sounds more to me like a migraine, especially since you say you feel ill from it sometimes and you fall asleep...those are big migraine flags.  Migraines are a duller pain that can make you feel nauseated too...they might last a little longer like four hours is about the average I think.  Take the cluster test and maybe do some research on migraines...but since you can sleep and describe this as a dull pain, "sometimes the pain is bad" its probably not clusters, clusters are usually by far the worst pain you have EVER felt in your ENTIRE life.
Insert I'm not a doctor just sufferer disclaimer here.  Grin
Hope you find some relief soon!

I don't think even a small cluster could be considered a
"Dull Pain"
Lying down with any cluster is out of the question.
Even the residual headache after the cluster ends is enuff to keep sleep at bay.
Saying nothing of the fear that just going to sleep invariably will bring on another cluster

Sorry that you're having such a tough time.

The first thing cluster sufferers notice is that lying down is impossible. No one rests during a hit.

Stick around and let us know how things are going.
