Brian, WOW! You sure are dealing with a whole lot right now! It constantly amazes me how CH can affect every facet of a life. I put it that way, because it is more than just YOUR life....it's those who love you. Your family, your friends, your work.....everything is affected! I'm glad you made it to Clusterville. here you can read about help for your CH. Please take time to read the topics on the left, ask questions and share infor about your CH.....no 2 Clusterheads are alike, but everyone is still searching for some common denominator. There is a lot of information here awaiting you, and plenty of people who care, so fire away, my friend!!! Please, Brian, give us some detail......are you epi or chronic? Are you using any meds now to deal with the hits? There's a lot of evidence in your post that you have not had a good Neuro, and you have suffered additional pain due to misinformation on your Dr's part. Let's get you on the right track!!! Again, I say, welcome, Brian! Pull up a chair, and start reading, writing and at the very least, getting your affliction under control, once and for all!!! Cathi

It isn't easy trying to sort this out, but one thing is obvious. You've got issues. I'm with JB on this. Bluntly, you've got to get off all the damn narcotics before you can even think about what to do about CH. The simple fact is that narcotics are not doing squat for you. I'm not going to blow sunshine up your butt--you've got a nasty jones, and it's not going to be easy. As far as the cannabis goes, all I can say is that most of the cannabis users I've heard from here consider it a trigger. So if you smoke a fat one, chances are you're going to end up with another headache. And so then, I take it, you dose yourself with another narcotic. Real helpful. Keep this up, and you're going to end up in a refrigerator with a tag on your toe. Sorry if this sounds unsympathetic, but that's tough. Detox, get your life together, and maybe we can be of some help to you in dealing with your CH. George

Brian, I was the one who pm'd you because I saw you were from California and right about where I used to live too. You are still not alone my friend and everyone here, including me will take you under their wings and help you help yourself. I had no idea you were taking this amount of Narcotics/Cannabis etc. Paragraphs are our friends here Brain. PLEASE....as I had an almost impossible time of reading and even gave up at a certain point. I would like so much for you to come to San Diego in January Brian. We're not Doctors for sure but we can all let you know what do about things like the 02 and what to talk to your Dr. about to get you set up on a path where you have some hope. Linda

Brian in cluster headache attack the blood vessels on the affected side of your head swell by up to 20 times their normal size. What we need are vaso constrictors to reduce the size of the blood vessels. Marijuana is a vaso dilator, it increases the size of your blood vessels. If you think it helps you with your attacks then more power to you. You probably don't have cluster headaches. If you've already found your cure-all may I ask exactly why you are here?

J Pharmacol Exp Ther. 2006 Oct 3 [Epub ahead of print] Cannabinoid (CB1) receptor activation inhibits trigeminovascular neurons. Akerman S, Holland P, Goadsby PJ. Institute of Neurology, London. Migraine is a common and disabling neurological disorder that involves activation, or the perception of activation, of the trigeminovascular system. Cannabinoid receptors are present in brain and have been suggested to have an anti-nociceptive role. Here we determine the effect of cannabinoid receptor activation on neurons with trigeminovascular nociceptive input in the rat. Neurons in the trigeminocervical complex - trigeminal nucleus caudalis (TNC) and dorsal horn of the C1 region- were studied using extracellular electrophysiological techniques. Responses to both dural electrical stimulation and cutaneous facial receptive field activation of the ophthalmic division of the trigeminal nerve, and the effect of cannabinoid agonists and antagonists were studied. Non-selective CB receptor activation, with WIN55,212 (1 mgkg(-1), i.v) inhibited neuronal responses to A- (by 52%)and C-fiber (by 44 %) afferents, an effect that was blocked by the CB1 receptor antagonist, SR141716 (3 mgkg(-1), i.v), but not the CB2 receptor antagonist, AM630 (3 mgkg(-1), i.v). Anandamide (10 mgkg(-1), i.v) was also able to inhibit both A- and C-fiber elicited trigeminocervical complex (TCC) firing, but only after TRPV1 receptor inhibition. Activation of cannabinoid receptors had no effect on cutaneous receptive fields when recording from TCC neurons. The data show that manipulation of CB1 receptors can affect the responses of trigeminal neurons with A- and C-fiber inputs from the dura mater. This may be a direct effect on neurons in the trigeminocervical complex itself, or an effect in discrete areas of the brain that innervate these neurons. The data suggest that CB receptors may have therapeutic potential in migraine, cluster headache or other primary headaches, although the potential hazards of psychoactive side-effects that accompany cannabinoid treatments may be complex to overcome. "trivia quiz time hope you all studied q1 how many people have overdosed on pot /weed /hemp /refer/canabis/thc etc in recorded history world wide???????????????????????????? " No offense, but if by "overdosed" you mean turned into a rambling, non-sensical, paranoid goober, I'd have to say I'm pretty sure YOU qualify. Take a tip from Nancy Reagan-- just say no, dude. --the weed is getting to you.

Quote:That was a study done on RATS !!! |
| The image of a rat sitting around zoning with a joint in his paw, a lava lamp at his side and incense burning in the back-ground is hilarious to me.

don't forget the black lights and tiny little love beads, Linda. Do ya figure these rats are knocking each other over to participate in this study? Do they say in rat language 'hey, man, pass that over here - don't bogart that! I've got a headache!' They must have been rats with migraines if they found conclusive evidence that smoking those tiny little doobies gave them relief. Weed can help migraine, weed triggers cluster - I don't care what the study says - I've seen first hand proof of both.
