Thank Goodness!!!

Hi all, First things first. My name's Ken and I live in Kobe, Japan. I'm 24 years old and I guess I've dealt with these infernal headaches for ...... oh ..... three to four years now. I remember going into a panic back in college, when I'd wake up with the familiar icepick routine. I thought I was some kind of freak, banging my head on the walls and wailing like a baby. Come to think of it, everyone around me probably wouldn't hesitate to agree. I never thought i'd experience such happiness finding a website. Usually, websites that provide various degrees of "happiness" are of another sort, and quite unmentionable in everyday life, but this one....... I had a headache (normal one) yesterday at work, asked around for some medicine and had a co-worker give me an Advil. He said, and I quote "I get headaches a lot" - Ha. Step into my world for just one day, buddy. Seriously though, it's such a comfort to know that I'm not alone. For the longest time I thought I was strange and somehow abnormal. Nobody understood what the heck I was talking (or rather, screaming and cursing about) and it really, really sucked. I've gotten somewhat used to the attacks now, but I think that I'd rather have somebody to talk to about them, rather than scramble around trying to find a cure. I hope I can contribute in a meaningful way to this site. Cheers! -Ken

| Stop scrambling right now. There is no cure. However there ARE ways to deal with this and this site has just everything you will need to know in doing that. Can you let us know what you have tried? How about oxygen? any meds? Some of us here are episodic and some are chronic...all can help in some way and we welcome you to contribute in any way you feel comfortable. Linda Howell

Welcome, Ken. As Cathi said, explore the links at the left of your screen. There's a wealth of accumulated information there. Sorry to hear that you're getting these, but you couldn't have found a better place to be. Best wishes, George

Ah! The foreigners put on such airs Wearing the tangerine suits And their harlequin eyes. The pain they inspire Draws in harmonica melodies And the feathers of birds Which flame up at their touch. It all comes to light in the sheer Debonair. (Ellen)

Come on in Ken, the water's fine. There aint no cure YET, (as Gator would say), but we are working on coping, and you won't find better ANYWHERE else. Read it all, links to the left, and countless threads. Someday, I hope you don't need it, nor anyone here. But until then, pull up a chair, we care. Regards Jon

Hi Ken, I wish I wasn't meeting you at 2:00 am my time as that wasnot my plan for the night, but I'm happy you found your way here. A place where someone is always on duty keeping the Beast busy. I don't recall having the Japanese flag displayed on the board before. Kind of nice, the international flavor of our little bistro. I hope you stick around and let us get to know you. We are a nosy lot so are going to want to know all about your history with this demon and what steps you have taken in the never ending battle. ....Tim

Hi Ken Welcome and painfree wishes to you. We did have another CHer from Japan a couple of months back. He is Australian but lives and works in Japan. He has since found a good neurologist and has managed to control his CH, so there is always hope. Take care Annette
