Wanted to say hello

Hello all,

I wanted to say hello to you and introduce myself. I have been suffering with cluster headaches for 13 years now. I get two or three a day for two months and then nothing for a year and a half then they start again. I have almost given up on doctors because all the ones I see tell me I am suffering from migraines. I knew 13 years ago that what I have is no migraine. I did my own research then and knew that it was cluster headaches; however my problem is getting a doctor to help me. So I have just been trying to just deal with them, it gets harder and harder. I am currently going through a cycle now and I have two months to see if I can get a doctor to help me.

I am glad that this board exists because it is great to have others know what you are going through. However it is sad because there are others who have these demon headaches as well.

Also a question, has anyone ever had a cluster headache out of your cycle brought on by heat. I had a couple this past summer and it’s the first for me.

Thank you,
Swila

Swila,  Go to this link below.  Many of us who have great success with a Dr. have posted their names and have recommended them to others like yourslef looking for one who understands.  I noticed that there are 2 where yo live that seem VERY good.

Also, Please stay around  and ask any of us questions you may have.  That is one of the many reasons we are here.

welcome to the nut house, plenty of info to read, digest and then go and fire at your doctor.

you really want a referral to a neurologist, particularly one that specialises in headache.

its your health and you have a right to be listned to.
dont leave his surgery until you are satisfied. if he insists you have migrane, demand a second opinion.

stand up for yourself.

glad to have u here

Heat is a big trigger for my husband but he is in cycle right now. This is his fist cycle so we dont know if heat will bother him outside of CH. He never likes the heat at the best of time anyway.

Good luck with finding a good doctor.

Painfree wishes to you.

Thank you for all the great input. I am trying to absorb what I can from this site and I did visit the OUCH website and noticed the two doctors in my area. I am going to check them out.

I just visited a new doctor today and he wants to do some tests before he refers me to a neurologist. He took a blood test today and wants to rule out other possibilities and then he said he would run a cat scan. It feels like I’m wasting my time with him.

Annette I am with you husband about not liking the heat, I never have liked it.

Nope.  You're not wasting your time. Almost everyone here has had their Dr.s do a cat scan, MRI or other tests FIRST.  It's not a waste.  It's ruling out other possibilites and that is good.

Hi, that is a good question. I hate the cold. But I was born in
eastern Spain, and my cycles used to be when the winter ( winter here is 37 to 59 degrees) arrives, and that looks like the most common time here.  It's kind a " I don't like it·" thing.
Saludos
