Chinese medicine/ Massage therapy ?

I am currently a student of Massage therapy and am interested in exploring more knowledge in Chinese Medicine. I have learned to locate pressure points in the muscles to aleviate spasms and such. I currently practice some of this on myself during an episode. 1. it is really hard to practice medicine on ones own body. 2. some points cause more pain and some relieve, but not completely (any one who experiences this knows a little is better than nothing) 3. since finding this site, I now realize that there are far more people who suffer from ch than I thought and I plan to take some active measures in my studies. Hopefully we can conquer this beast together.

I love massage. It's so relaxing. Unfortunately, it wont help CH. There is one Chinese medicine that has been used for migraine for centuries, that may help you. Kudzu. Read all about it here: http://www.clusterheadaches.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=meds;action= display;num=1110584362 Welcome, by the way. pain free wishes, nani

Yeah, so far I have had the experience to know that. Thanx for the info, I thought may be I was missing something in class or needed to dig deeper in a specific area of study. These ch suck I've been on med after med and it seems hopeless any more. I wish we could give the Docs a hint of what it actually feels like, may be the would stop trying to shove all these pain meds down our throats and telling us it should be all right just give it time, the treatment will work eventually. I've been suffering for 10 years now and the best I can do is just try to relax, and relieve my mind of the stress, anxiety and fears it puts on me night after night.

Welcome to Clusterville. PM Wildhaus and Charlie and ask them about their coping techniques. Wildhaus has pursued self-hypnosis with some success, and Charlie has a technique (that I've personally found helpful) to control the circulation to the extremities during a hit. I'm sure either of them would be glad to help. Both techniques sound as if they may be of interest to you. To PM, simply go to the top of your screen. Where it says "Hey psuet, you have 0 messages, 0 are new" , click on the link. When the screen comes up, hit "new message" and fill in the fields. Best wishes, and again--welcome. George

Ah! The foreigners put on such airs Wearing the tangerine suits And their harlequin eyes. The pain they inspire Draws in harmonica melodies And the feathers of birds Which flame up at their touch. It all comes to light in the sheer Debonair. (Ellen)
