Welcome Back?

It's been a while - maybe a few years.  Last time I was here I was unemployed and struggling through a series of cycles.

Well, that cycle eventually passed, I found a contract gig that lasted for 16 months instead of the expected 6 weeks, and had another cycle.  I kept exceptional track of that cycle, and used some of my computer/data analysis skills to understand some aspects of it...

That 2nd cycle lasted a little less than 3 months and had about 70 episodes, so on average I had about a cluster per day.  I found 2 stats most useful in contemplating the patters of these things...time between attacks and the overall duration.  I am sometimes prone to a HA that doesn't quite fit the cluster pattern, but I have far too many cluster type sysmptoms to call what I have migraines.  So the duration was a key stat.  Time between whoppers should strike most as a pretty salient statistic.

About a month ago I started another cycle after an 18 month remission - I had hoped for longer, but I'm really not sure about the details of what I went through 10 or 12 years ago, mainly because due to mis-diagnosis I never really kept attention to these HA's.  From 3 years ago I have a better memory, and more importantly better notes.  So far in the past month I've had 15 attacks, so about 1 every other day.  The scary part is comparing it to the December 2004 through March 2005 cycle.

So far this time I've had an average of 41 hours and 30 minutes between attacks.  My first 15 attacks of the early '05 cycle saw that average at 41 hours 10 minutes.

I may not be able to predict when and where and what triggers my clusters, but I can guess that if this cycle is progressing so similar to the last one then I have a good idea what's coming...  Undecided

Anyway, just figured I'd rejoin the talk, mainly about treaments and research, and anyone who might want to talk about measuring, tracking and analysis of collected data is welcome to ask me into their ideas.

BTW, my treatments of choice are 1) zomig for an abortive, 2) ice pack.  Tried topamax for a preventitive a few years back and it really wasn't that good an experience.  Lived up to it's "dopeymax" label.  Roll Eyes

Welcome, Edski.  Welcome back.

It's scary and you feel like you're the only one going through this, but you will find you have a lot in common with us.

You say you don't quite fit the cluster pattern. I'm in the same boat.  Even in that aspect, you are not alone.
