new to clusters...

Hello there to everyone new to this ugly condition. My name is Gene , and while its true I am new to this site , Iam a long time suffer'r to this demon. I have had plenty of visits to a large headache clinic in Chicago, all very costly and , for me, not to productive. If your ins. carrier is a exceptional one then I suggest you stick with a clinic, nuero, that knows about clusters. As many have mention'd oxygen has been succsesful in aborting a current cluster, it may reappear after a bit, but you will most likly get some relief from the killer for a moment or two, and perhaps the night ! After 30 plus years of this , I havent had much success with any of the high end meds. typically persribed , however we all react differently to these meds. I would like to share somthing that at times (with the aide of o2) helps. I have to do my best to stay relaxed while the demon takes it out on me, and I lay down and let him give me his best shot, its really hard , but I breath in the o2 through my nose, and exhale through my mouth, somtimes rapidly and hard, as the o2 is flowing at about 15 lpm. I imagine seeing the air flowing up my body from my feet , over my knees , up my stomach and in my nose, then the same as I exhale, except opposite. This allows me to give the o2 a chance to work. I will tell you that it doesnt work all the time and there are times when the demon wins, but there are the times the he doesnt.... This isnt meant to take away from other ideas or practices ....its just meant as additional ideas , in a effort to give everyone the ammunition to battle. Best wishes to all those that have taken the time to read my ramblings. Btw...Iam currently in cycle/season, and feel your pain A fellow banger suffer'r

Hi Gene, Welcome aboard. Pull up a chair and make yourself at home. We usually have a meet and greet in Davenport IA in Jan. Watch for it. It is a great time and a chance to meet others of us who share your pain. BTW, I am from Aurora, and we have another newbie here from Rockford. There are also several others of us in the northern IL area and surrounding areas. Glad you found us, and hope the beast forgets your address. Jerry
