24 HA's in 15 days....I'M INSANE.......

I've had 24 HA's in 15 days I'm INSANE. Has anyone else had this many is this normal? I don't know what to do. I'm using the imitrex injections but can only have 2 a day. I started the first week with 1 ha a day the 2nd week 2-3 a day now starting the third week its 2am again at 4am and again at 7:30am and again at 11:00 pm for the last two days. I don't know what to do does anyone have any suggestions on anything that may prevent so many attacks? Or maybe how long this will last?

24 HA's in LESS than 15 days is not uncommon. Especially for chronics. It may not help in knowing that but at least you can know you're not alone.
Do you have oxygen as another, safer abortive?

I'm currently getting up to 6 every 24 hours.
Im usiing the Imigran injections, although you are only meant to use 2 a day i'm using up to 4. im not telling you to use that many but I just figure i'd rather do this than suffer the pain!

Sorry you are going through such a bad patch. Just be careful with so many imitrex injections, they tend to give rebound headaches and bad for the heart.
Look on the left for the "imitrex tip".
Linda is right, Oxygen is a better alternative as an abortive.
What preventatives are you on?

I was getting 4-5 a day when my cycle started ,but after reading what the good people here had to say I slowed down on my imitrex and the HA also slowed down . I think the imitrex was giving me "rebounds"

Your experience sounds pretty typical of what many go through. Follow the tips suggested above and hang on. I'd like to plug O2 just one more time as it has been a lifesaver for me.

There are 89 CH-er's listed in Georgia. The top one on the list is from your town. I'd send her a e-mail and ask if she has a good Dr. and go from there.
Before you do educate yourself, print out medications and 02 info to give him or her.

I get five a night when not taking the right dose of melatonin (and sometimes rogue hits in the evening). Unfortunatley this is the way my cycle gets about 2-3 weeks into cycle. You sound similar--it is nighttime REM--then when you get rid of one and go back to bed you get another hit--Mine sometimes keep hitting me after I am up in the morning. Have you tried oxygen? Even with high frequency it can be VERY helpful. Also after breathing oxygen I don't have trouble falling back to sleep (while also on melatonin). Imitrex I have not used in a while but I seem to remember it causing problems with getting back to sleep.
You are probably approaching a peak in your cycle and then frequency will probably begin diminsihing. It sucks--there is no question about it. Good luck--I hope you can find relief with oxygen or try melatonin! Starlight

Hi murnahan and welcome to the site.
Due to the fact the hits are increasing with time,
I think like the others said take a hard look at how medications may affect your clusters. They may relieve the pain for one hit but add 2 hits to replace it.
The best suggestion is continue asking questions and keep reading and inputting here.
Some things that have been helpfull for me.
Vigorous repetitive excersize,
Hmmmmmmmmmm I guess thats it dammit 
unless you include CB treatments.

Keep your chin up it could be worse. (24 in two days is not entirely uncommon for a few of us.)

Hey guys thanks for the support. My ha's lasted 6 weeks and then I was pain free for 4 weeks thought they were gone and now there back. I can't believe this. Doctor put me on PREDNISONE and VERAPAMIL maybe thats what stopped them for 4 weeks? I have always been episodic but I'm wandering if maybe I'm going chronic? I finished the pred about 2 weeks ago and my ha's started 1 week after I finished them. I'm calling the doctor today to see about getting ox because I only have 6 injections left and insurence will only pay for 4 a month. Yea that only last a day hu! I'm also going to try the melatonin! Thank you everyone just wanted to let you all know how I was doing. murnahan08.

Everyone's different, so it's hard to say especially if you are new to this. But "cycle" is a baaaaaaad word here.
24 in 15 days is roughly 15 hours between events...that's in my definition of brutal. I sypathize completely - At my peak I get about a 12 hour average between. I don't know how folks getting 5-6 of these a day deal with it.
Overall periodicity is odd for me, at least. I seem to have a series of 10-15 week periods of clusters and relatively PF times, followed by a more complete "remission" for about 18 months. Some of the "cycles" I go through are worse than others...
But keeping track of when and how many (and how severe) these attacks are is a good practice. At the very least I feel like I have the upper hand, using my intelligence and logic to try and figure out the beasts next move.
As others said, you need to at least find an abortive.

I am at the tail end of my first recorded cycle. At least I hope it is the tail end, shadows are escalating. When I was getting hit, I got 4 to 12 hits a day. most days averaged about 6 but peak days were about 10 to 12.
Hope this info helps relieve your concern a bit.
