I am writing for my hubby as he is the new clusterhead. He was diagnosed by an ER doc (2 ER visits) that now has him on Verapamil which seems to be helping. He still says he "feels" the CH over his R eye, all the time, but with no pain. Maybe like a "ghost". He also has had an MRI which the results said he has a loss of volume of brain tissue in his R cerebellum. That the tissue is getting soft. Is this possible damage from the CH? This is very new to us, he has not had any history of Migranes, and when he did get a headache in the past he was able to sleep it off. Now, he is afraid to go to sleep. Since on the Verapamil, he has not had another episode. We are waiting for an appt with a neurologist....will be interesting to see what he says. You have a great website...I am so glad that I came across it! Any comments would be appreciated and welcomed!

Bless your heart for being a supporter. Please be sure and check in with the supporters corner on the board, there are lots of people like you there. Be sure and read up on all the treatment options and print out the information on this board. Unless you are REALLY lucky your neuro is not going to know much about cluster headaches. It will be up to you and your husband to educate yourseleves about the various treatment options, then by trial and error find what works for him. Stress to the doctor you really want oxygen. Read up on the link to the left, used correctly it provides relief to many of us, used incorrectly it can be almost useless. Your question about the brain damage. I've never seen anything written about damage caused by these things. That's the only redeeming factor, they hurt like hell but don't really do any damage to you. Obviously the neuro will give you a better idea what's going on there. Welcome to the club, you'll find a lot of beautiful people here who really understand what your husband is going through. Now get his butt on this site so we can all meet him! Guiseppi
