CH will not kill you. Does he take any medication? Can you list it here? A little more info would be great. There are lots of people here who can help you out. Our experiences are all very different....but the pain is the same. Welcome to the board! Lots of support here...so feel free to ask as many questions as you wish. Someone here 24/7..... PF vibes to your husband... Jean

| No, but most of us have wanted to at one time or another. Or wondered why we didn't, or couldn't. Years ago an old wives’ tale called our disease ‘suicide headaches’. Nowadays we all know better. No one has ever died from a cluster attack. And I’ve never seen any positive proof that anyone has ever committed suicide because of them. Welcome to the board leelee. Read, read, read. There’s a test in one hour.

No, it won't kill you. Unfortunately, sometimes I wouldn't care if I did. I monitor my attitude. Charlotte ps Welcome aboard. Having someone to talk to is the best medicine, and someone is always here. I admire you for being there for your husband.

Hello so sorry about what your going through . Your husband has a debilitating disorder yes but die , no . Yes we may feel as if we will or want to due to our pain being intolerable . Try ice packs for the back of his neck, red bull at first sign of attack and gulp down...works for most of us here myself included. Melatonin at bedtime, in the vitamin section at your local walgreens or cvs, us CH'ers have lack of it when in cycle..it will help him sleep. May cut attacks in half too...give it couple of nights to work. Keep him cool, caffeine but hydrate with lots of water. It is a constant battle I know but thought some of these ideas may help him. I truly sympathize , I am in 6th week of torture...hits are calming down a bit but still wake me about 2:30 and then again at 4:00 . O2 is a huge abortive...if he can get that his prayers will seem answered. Good luck , hope I helped , we are here , have him log on.. we are always here. All my best, Summer

I'm going to have to disagree. I'm sure that the people who have commited suicide because of these things would still be alive it they didn't have CH. The actuall attacks are non-fatal, but they affect us all differently, for some it is literally too much pain to cope with. Not trying to be a downer, just being realistic.

I have yet to see one documented case of anyone committing suicide solely due to CH.

| In most suicides there are more than just one reason. You can't deny that given other factors, loss of income, failed relations, poor quality of life, not being understood, and then you throw CH in the mix that it's not going to push some people over the edge.

| All the above reasons COULD be traced to the person having CH...... B

| Exactly the side affects that CH leaves on your life are all reasons for suicide, without even bringing the pain aspect into the equation.

I do not have any proof, but I would venture to guess that a few car accidents have been caused by a ch attack. I know I have avoided a few. They may not be a direct cause for death but I definately believe they could lead to it in one way or another. Just like a drunk who dies in a car accident. He didnt actually die from being drunk, but it was a cause.

I have read about people committing suicide or attempting it from having CH. There are people with incredibly sever cases that do not seem to respond to anything. Either that or I know I have read about it happening years ago when there was no treatment of any kind for the headaches.

You need to have him take the Cluster Quiz on the left. I have never heard of CH directly killing anyone. But the pain sure has made me wonder occasionaly. Lead your husband here, maybe we can help him.
