New guy in the midst of a new cycle

I just found you guys and it couldn't have happened at a better time. I'm about a week into a new cycle after being headache free for over a year. I've gone to the doctor three times, had muscle relaxers prescribed, told to stop stressing and scrunching my face and give a new eyeglass prescription. Needless to say, nothing doing in the way of relief. Before finding out that what I had was indeed cluster headaches I'd trying knocking myself out with advil, which helped only in terms of putting me back to sleep and hopefully thinning the blood enough for it to travel though that damn dialated artery or vein. Mint oil lotion gave me a heating sensation when combined with the airflow from a fan feels good. Rocking in bed feels good. Today was the worst in terms of frequency - three this morning or one that never quite subsided. Anyway, there have been shadows all day and now I'm leaving work to go home and wait for the pain to start. I've read quite a few posts and this morning it was comforting to know that others know the pain that I have felt for the better part of eight years, on and off. I thought about many of you this morning and it did help. I sat up, took deep breathes, drank water and sipped some coffee. Ahh, the life. I thank all of you for your words of advice and again, in a twisted way, I'm happy to know there are a lot of us out there. At least we are not alone with this nonsense. In some way we are special. Thanks again.

And whichever doc you go to, demand oxygen. Read the link on how to use it, low flow is worthless, used correctly it's awesome. Understand that unless you are really really lucky, the doctors you see won't know much about clusters. It's your job to read read read, educate yourself and tell the doctor what you need. Everyone here is here for you, wishing you a short cycle and a peaceful remission! Guiseppi

In addition to what is on this site, here is a link to all of the latest treatments: http://www.brightok.net/~mnjday/chtherapy.pdf All the best my friend.

Welcome to the group: ) Like everyone, I am sorry you have a reason to be here, but glad you are.. I'm also at my cycle peak right now.. have had a constant beast going for the last 10 hours which has spiked 4 or 5 times.. I hope you have some luck with meds and methods for dealing with your pain.. I also just found this site recently and there's some great advice from everyone. You really just have to stay positive and know that eventually it will all be over with, and just be strong in the meantime.. it's tough, I know i've broken down a few times this cycle with a case of the why-me?'s. it is a rare problem, so in a weird way we're all kinda special: ) god bless & pain free wishes, mike in ny
